i hear that this is the not real name of the writer of harry potter, i wan to know her real name the story behind is this that people asked her to do not publish your stories with your name no one will purchase your novel and than shew used her grandmother's name

Her real name is Joanne Murray since her marriage in 2001. But she was Joanne Rowling prior as that is her maiden name. J.K. Rowling stands for Joanne Kathleen Rowling, but in reality she has no middle name. "Kathleen" is her grandmother's name. The first Potter book was originally going to be published under Joanne Rowling, but her publisher thought that if young boys were buying this book, they may not be attracted to it if it was written by a woman. And it just sounded better to have two initials than just J. Rowling.

I'm not sure about the spelling...and that is her middle name...she got married again...
