Why do diabetic people lose weight suddenly?

Diabetic diet reduces weight? - I am diabetic, and I am a bit scared...lately, I am losing weight...I don't know if this is due to the diet and exercise I am following and doing, but this is also the same observation with diabetic people I know...

I am diabetic (type 2) and I am losing weight by at least 8 pounds ever since I was diagnosed 3 months ago. I have also observed people I know who are diabetic also lose weight, and I wonder if this is because of the strict diet and exercise we are following or it is associated with the illness itself? I would like to believe that the cause is either one of these. Any idea?

Yup, I'm taking that now...I guess that could be one factor. Although I'm slowly regaining back my weight, but just a little.

i think its the strict diet when you go less on sugar and carbo... i have a friend once, his mom was diabetic , was into insulin in-take but never got a chance to loose weight... was really strict on her diet ...

The diabetic person's body can no longer obtain energy from the food you are eating, so it begins to digest itself using the reserved fat.You can regain the normal weight by the proper control of the sugar level which is easier with the modern day medicine and exercise.
