About to be a Grandma

Well, my daughter's due date is swiftly approaching, December the 18th. She is 80% effaced, and dilated to 1, and has been holding steady for about a week. I can hardly wait! But I am so nervous about her giving birth. When you're the one doing it, there's not much you can do but go with the flow. But to be on the other side, watching her, will be a whole different experience.

hi gran'ma dj! ^__^ i'm already a grandma but i didn't feel excited about it. i'm only 25! LOL but my grandchild isn't from my brother or my sisters. they are from my cousins. ^__^;; it feels awkward when they call me granny. and i always say, "its Tita!". LOL anyway, congrats on being a grandmother, i know how it will be fun to have a grandchild because my mother is so gaga over my little niece and nephew. ^__^

Well, its the thought that counts, right? And think about how much practice you'll have had when you are a grandma for real!

Well, let me be one of the first to congratulate you 'grandma'! ;) LOL I remember my mom was pretty nervous about me giving birth to her first grand baby. She had gone with me to my doctors appointment two weeks before I was due. I had driven us to the hospital and when she found out I was 2-3 centimeters dilated she about flipped out! LOL And no way did she let me drive back home! She drove us back to my place as she was worried I was going to give birth on the way! LOL But of course I didn't. So, I'm guessing this will be your first grandchild?

Yes, the first! And just like you're mom, I have been going to doctor with her every week.

Fortunately for me my mom didn't go with me to every doctor appointment when I was pregnant. She just went that one time. I think she would have driven me bonkers had she gone with me every time! LOL I do love that she was very proud and excited though. :)

That is a great experience, to see an offsping of your own give forth to another life. It gives you an immediate status and it makes a loud statement about your significant contribution to life on this planet earth. Your ancestors are obvious turning with joy n thei graves because you have not let the family tree down. The family name goes on!

Well, unfortunately it will not be our family name, but her boyfriend's family name. My husband is the last of his line, since we had 2 girls. Kind of sad, but won't take away from our joy at seeing this latest addition, whatever his name is!

How exciting!!! Is this your first grandchild? I can't even imagine my girls going through childbirth! Of course, they are still young, but you know what I mean! Does she know if it's a boy or girl? Is she ready to bring the baby home? Have everything all set up? It's such an exciting time! I'm very anxious to be a part of all of that when my girls become moms.... Good luck to you all!

Its going to be a boy. We have the room all set up, and a ton of clothes and diapers! I figure we'll have to change him about every 3 hours to wear everything he got before he outgrows it!

Congrats to the grandma to be. My mom was in the labor room with me and my husband both times I gave birth. I had really easy births so it was a nice experience for her. Watching your grandchild be born will be on of the best things you have ever witnessed in life. Congrats again on grandma to be and you and our daughter will do just fine.

Each day that goes by I get more excited and more nervous. I didn't get to go to the last doctor's appointment, her boyfriend went. Which is good because he hasn't been very involved up to now. She's at a 2 and holding.
