How to tackle this kinda of boss?

I have been alloted a different portfolio in my office under a new boss, since 10 days. This one is really interesting and i love fighting it to finish the task within the deadline. But the problem is my new boss. Most of the times i used to write letters to the customers and would send the draft for his approval. He would not approve it directly.. he would somehow make some alterations in it, and ask me to redraft again.I would not be disturbed had he find fault with contents of my drafts( ie, i conveyed a different meaning), but what he asks me to do is... replace this word by that word, replace this phrase by that phrase.. And he makes me to do every job two or three times. My policy is..we have to convey only the message to our customers in courteous and simple way, then why to look for jargons and euphemisms? What phrase to use and what not, who is he to decide.. Urgh.. he annoys me.. a lot. Till date, i am remaining silent. And now friends, how to react to this kinda boss who is testing my patience a lot? ~~~~~~~~~~~ Enjoy Peace Within.

never think highly of any boss I had before. All but one were overrated. They only got the positions because either they are senior staffs, better at licking a** or able to save money for the company, which means they can find a way to get us do the work but not pay for overtime. Now I did say all but one. The last one was my boss at my seasonal job. I left my full time job, open my own business and work seasonal job like 8 to 16 hrs a week only, this time the boss is unlike those I worked full time for and the co workers are awesome although I don't see them every day. It's example from the top, a good and fair boss will give good examples to his workers. I hope the best for you, that you don't have to go through what I went through. That boss of yours, it's easy to get rid of him. There must be others who don't like him, befriend them. If only I did this too before, all those stupid bosses would've been kicked out. But I quit instead, silly me

hi saiven! ^__^ now that is really irritating. if he wants to change every word you write, and the whole letter itself, then why not write the letter himself right?? LOL if he wouldn't trust you on it, if he wouldn't be satisfied on whatever you write, then what's the point of giving you that work? there would be no sense to it. i guess what you should do is ask him what is wrong with your wordings and phrasing and ask him what you should do to fit his taste. if he wants it his way, then do it his way. you'll just waste time with writing by your way if he won't approve it anyway. ^__^ i hope everything works out best for you. ^__^

Hi secretbear, for the past two days i didnot draft any letter given by him, but simply kept the files under pending files category, and today he asked me about the drafts if it is ready or not.. I calmly replied,.. " Sir.. i am searching for words.." You could imagine how he could have looked at that time? Take care and have a nice day:)

Find out his areas of weaknesses and try to tackle him instead of he tackling you. Then he will come to terms. A boss is always a stupid A.H.

Hello dear saivenkaat. I think that this new boss of yours is just used to his writing style and is always trying to have others follow his business writing style only. It would be tiring to be working under him since we have so many polite ways to write a business letter. He is somewhat fond of following the routine. I only hope that you will soon get used to his writing skill by having him show you some of his past business letters. lol. Good luck to my dear friend.

But i think it will be hard to get in line with him, if he goes on in this manner. And i must wait and try to get accustomed to his style of writing.

Hi saivenkaat! Oh dear so sorry for this late response. was in and out of mylot lately. Anyway for the question if how one will react on the kind of boss you have right now. Uh oh, that is a toughie! He is the boss, right and this is a very difficult situation when you just want to choke him with all those jargons and euphemisms. LOL! Just joking..Honestly, I think your boss is insecure with himself that he has to use those high falluting words to impress people that he is smart and intelligent. I think he uses impressive words and phrases because he feels that if he won't, people who will receive those letters will think that he is dumb. So just let him with his ego. Sooner or later, a customer or client will soon getting his attention on those letters. Be patient my friend, he is the boss and he has the upper hand. Just think of it this way, you are not being a victim of "office abuse", so just be patient and pity your boss who is dealing now with his insecurities. Just my thoughts. take care and have a nice day! :)

hi sai, ironically i have gone thru the same situation and the worst is the person who was my boss shares his name with you, and he used to do this purposelly.due to this i used to get so annoyed and now have lost the interest to draft any thing but to my luck he got transferred to a differeent place , after that i heaved a sigh of relief and the present boss was good till a few days after that he started behaving nerd as well but he comments and asks to change even s ingle comma, or punctuation mark thats all the more annoying. These days what i do is i stop making letters or rather make the communications which is very dumb so even if he makes changes it shoudnt be mch hurted to me as than i know that i am wrong and he is correcting me.As i feel after writing 10 letters one understands the kind of pattern required by a particular person , rather one gets to know the taste of it. The other way out is make the templates for any particualr given subject and just change the necessary details of the customers than there wont be much of change.all the best.

o No how stupid is your boss!! what is the point in wasting time and energy in writing letters ONLY in a particular way he wants. Most customers look service and won't mind if your letter had mistakes as long as the idea was conveyed. I guess he is just a nerdy and i will pray that he gets transferred and HE gets a boss who makes him type and re-type letters all day! That would be fun!
