Expired Candy

United States

So about a week ago I went to my local Unimart to get some munchies and I bought some of those gummie worms. I had gotten a pack from there not long before this last time. My husband had opened them and had some before I did but when I did get to have some, they weren't very good. Yesterday I finally remembered to take them back. The date on the bag was 8/29/05. I looked at the other bags on the rack and they all had the same date. When I told the manager he looked pissed off and then tried to tell me that the candy had just come in this week. Bullcrap!! I also looked at other candy on the rack and they were expired back to 2001. It makes me sick that the people who run this store don't give a crap that they are selling people expired product.

Wow, maybe you should contact someone about that. I don't know if you can get sick from expired candy, but would you want to take the risk? I'm sure not many people check the dates on candy. That isn't really something you think about expiring. We have to watch the dates sometimes on foods from our save-a-lot store. sometimes they are expired.

they should be reported...it won't do them any good if the start pissing their customers off because of selling expired products.the credibility of their store is in stake...

We have several local news channels who do expose type reports. Something like that would be something they would investigate. I mean, kids love that stuff, and what if they got sick? It's really possible. After a similar experience with a dollar store, I never ever buy any candy in any kind of dollar store. I don't even care if the expiration date is correct, I've just had a bad experience and heard about some other ones as well.
