What do you think of all of the poilitcal correctness at Christmas?

We are no longer supposed to say "Merry Christmas" so as not to offend non-christians or those who do not celebrate Christmas. Santas have been told that they can no longer say "HO HO HO" because it may be offensive to women. Personally, I think it's a bunch of crap and political correctness has gotten out of hand. Where do you stand? To be or not to be?

I think that saying "Happy Holidays" to someone whom you don't know their religion is just polite. For the rest of it - it's just STUPID. I don't get one bit offended by HO HO HO.

I agree but at the same time I think everyone should be a little more tolerant of everyone else. If someone said Happy Kwanza to me, I wouldn't be offended. The greetings are just meant to be a nice way of saying basically the same thing...I wish you joy!

Oh I totally agree with you too. And I think that MOST people are very tolerant this time of year especially. But there are those few...on BOTH sides too.

Know matter what else it's still Christmas and so "Merry Christmas my friend". I will never stop wishing people that. I'm deeply offended to think that I might have to. I don't know why anyone would be offended by this, we certainly mean no harm. Should we take down the decorations, and not even mention Christmas and just celebrate covertly in the privacy of our homes? This is just ridiculous. The message is Peace on earth and goodwill to man. If anyone has a problem with that, keep it to yourself and don't inflict yourself on others and have a happy, joyous and blessed Christmas. Peace be with you.

Boy, do I agree with you! I too, am deeply offended at the thought of anyone telling me that I can't wish someone a Meryy Christmas. I believe it's a statement of love and if love offends then it's not my problem. Merry Christmas to you! May the New Year bring you peace, love and much joy!

I think it is absolutely ridiculous, I think people are thinking too deep, and maybe even dirty, we can only go by what we ourselves thought when we were kids and did we think about these things they seem so concerned about, I think these people have suspicious minds and maybe even just searching for their 15mins of fame and this is the only way they can do it, why don't they leave tradition alone for heavens sake...

I agree. It has gone way too far in every area of life and most people don't think that way to begin with. Santa can't say HO HO HO? What's he supposed to say then?

I say Merry Christmas. To hell with you if you get offended. I'm offended daily and because I'm white and a Christian, I'm supposed to keep my mouth shut? The Santas here still say ho ho ho. I doubt if any child who still believes in Santa knows what a ho really is. And if they ask, I'd say he's referring to a gardening tool. People need to get their heads out of their collective a*ses and realize that it's not a winter tree, winter break or hahaha. It's Christmas tree, Christmas break and it's ho ho ho. If you don't like it, shove it. I get told that all the time, so it's time for me to spread the love.

LOL! I laugh because I feel the same way. Christians are discriminated against. People are very busy trying to take Christ out of Christmas and the Joy out of the holiday season. I, for one, have had enough. MERRY CHRISTMAS to you and may your new year be BLESSED!

Being a Christian, I am offended that I am being told that I can not say "Merry Christmas" when I want to! Why should offending non-Christians be worse than offending Christians? I hope that's a joke about Santas no longer being allowed to say "HO HO HO"! Only a small minority of people turned "HO" into a bad word - why should we be governed by them?! God bless you and Merry Christmas!

I think that most people, christian and non-christian alike know that saying Merry Christmas is not meant to offend anyone. I will continue to say it as often as I please. I'm tired of all of the language police. The Santa thing is no joke unfortuneatly. Store Santas have been told that they are no longer allowed to say HOHOHO because the phrase may be offensive to women. Give me a break! Have a Merry Christmas!

I truly wish that the naysayers would take your advice! This world would be such a better place if people let the small stuff go and concentrated on the big picture.

The Ho Ho Ho is not one I had yet heard yet either. Can you tell me what they are now saying? On the other hand, I really don't find it offensive or difficult for any of us to say "Happy Holidays"! Even if you are a Christian and celebrate Christmas, Happy Holidays could still be taken to incorporate Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day. America has always been called the "melting pot" for people of all races; and with that in mind, I don't see that it causes harm to be just a bit considerate of everyone's feelings at this time of year. To me that's what the spirit of Christmas is. I know, a big "Boo Hiss" to me. But I promise I am not trying to be a grinch. I love everything there is about the entire holiday season. ~Donna

I agree with being considerate of other people's feelings...so why aren't the feelings of those who say - and have always said- Merry Christmas not being considered? Sure, I'll sometimes say Happy Holidays but when you think about it would there be a Christmas without the birth of the child born on that date? He's been kicked out of everything else in this country. Now his own birthday? It's CHRISTMAS. So yes, being PC is sometimes BS.

I say enough is enough. What next rudolph the red nosed reindeer going to be outlawed to. Santa has been HO HO HOing for countless years without problem. It should stay that way. That is what Santa says and thats all there is to it. What about all the songs with HO HO HO in them, are they going to change that to. People have a choice to celebrate christmas and the majority do. People need to lay off Santa and look at what he stands for, like the goodness in people and giving to others. As you probibly have guessed this whole matter ticks me off big time.

It just seems to me that the minority are able to change how the majority live and the majority just sits back and takes it. It has gotten ridiculous and I am so sick of it! It ticks me off too!

Religion, yes. But it has nothing to do with politics so it whouldn't be scrutinized that way. And last but not least "you can please some of the people all the time, and all the people some of the time, but you can't please all the people all the time" LEAVE CHRISTMAS AND SANTA ALONE!

Political correctness has been an issue for awhile. Any writer who has had to type out he or she, him or her, knows that it is just crazy. People are too easily offended and over stupid things. On the same note, the Christian radio station was trying to gather up people to boycott stores that were saying Happy Holidays instead of Marry Christmas. That also seems a bit much. Originally Happy Holidays was used to include a variety of holidays that happened in December, including New Years which is just around the corner. A good book that makes fun of political correctness is The Story of the Politically Correct Snowperson.

Too much time is being spend arguing with each other over what we can and can't say. What happened to freedom of speach or live and let live? Boycotting stores for saying Happy Holidays is just as stupid as telling me that I can't say Merry Christmas or telling Santa not to say HO HO HO! We are too much of a touchy, feely society.
