Do you agree that a wall should be built along the border? Please explain why or why not.

I think it is sad that it has come to that. We are so lucky to be living in a country that others desparetly want to live in. I do understand that we have to take care of our own citizens. I was in El Paso, Texas, across the border from Juirez, Mexico. As I walked across the bridge into Mexico, I watched many people coming over the border illegally. It was right out in the open, duing the day. Some waded thru the water and some payed to be pulled across on inner tubes tied together with a board on top. One elderly women stuck out in my mind. You could tell she was scared, she was shaking. I felt so sad for these people. It was even worse when we got into Mexico, the street was lined up with children, sitting in front of storefronts with tin cans, looking for spare change and handouts. To answer your question, NO I don't think we should have a wall.

I truly wish I had a good answer to what we can do. I feel so sorry for them, they want to be able to feed their families and have a beter life. The United States was mostly formed by immigrants, the same kind of people we are trying to keep out, does that sound fair. I might have some different feelings about that because I am a Native American and my ancesters were treated horribly by the "Americans". I belong to The Great Nation Of the Miami Indians. The American Govt. stripped us of Tribal Status. Our tribe has for over a hundred years been trying to regain our Tribal status. Some judges say we should have it and some say we shouldn't. My ancesters were robbed of their land. Don't get me wrong I am a Proud United States Citizen. I wish we all could just get along, with everyone, after all we are all people with families and feelings. Take care.

What do you think our country should do to prevent these people from coming into this country illegally? Maybe bring back some of our troops from the Middle East to block people from coming here. We definitely need to take care of our own people and protect our people. Some of these people are coming here and committing crimes, which is even worse. Something definitely needs to be done here otherwise people will be flocking to Canada next. It is sad for some of them as many of them probably are good people looking for a better situation.

Thanks soonergirl. :-) Good response. :-) It will be interesting to see how long it takes to build this wall and how effective it will be.

The mine field is not nice but thanks for your opinion. I feel that more border patrol would be fine.

No, I don't think a wall should be built along the border. I feel our limited resources could be put to better use. The fact the wall is to be built South to restrict peoples traveling from Mexico and farther south and not North to restrict Canadians from crossing the border only reinforces the negative image of the United States when viewed from abroad.

I feel that more patrol and a wall would be a good idea. It cannot go on like the way it is any longer. I think the illegals will still get in, but it will be cut down a lot.
