Do you ever NOT respond when....

I have found myself quite a few time lately not responding to discussions which have guidelines such as:
be nice
dont bicker
dont fight
do not use the word "God"
serious responses only
etc., etc., etc.
I have enough problems remembering not to violate myLot guidelines without having to worry about infringing on the originator's list of "do nots". If the originator is so afraid of having their sensibilities stepped on then why even bother posting the discussion in the first place. Am I the only one who says to hell with their rules and move on?

I'm having a hard time finding things to respond to anyway. It seems as though all the discussions are becoming mundane and repetitive, or lots of times, they just don't make any sense at all. I don't like to respond to something that I can't answer in depth.

After being a member for a year on this site there are many repetive discussions which I can understand. When I was a newbie I had many questions I wanted answers to and did not know they had been posted many times before.

It's an annoying trend I've noticed on here lately. It bugs me because I'm not five years old and neither is the poster. We're supposed to be adults. I don't need a list of additional "guidelines" on how I should respond. Often I'll just move on but if it's something I do want to respond to then I will do so and just ignore their "instructions" anyway. Mind you - I don't normally respond to a post with the intention of causing a fight or bickering anyway.

You think that's bad, I've been to a couple of threads where the originator has "implied" rules. You know, those ones they didn't put down but when you participate in the discussion they then laydown those rules on you... -_-
I'll reply to whatever I wish, and the way I wish to respond. If anyone's got problems with it, the "Waaah to Pro" line is over there. Here's a nice cup of "Shut up, don't care" for you while you wait for nothing.

Yep I saw it. Thanks for showing to me. Didn't feel like replying.
I'll admit the only threads where I have "rules" are my weekend threads. But its free-for-all weekend and its part of the irony/sillyness! There really are no rules, just people posting their week/weekend and me responding (a few times hijacking responses!) Its all in good fun and just a thing I do to unwind a bit with others.

I am very glad that I have not come across any discussions like that because I am the type where just for the simple fact that you stated to NOT say something specific, then I more than likely will. I'm an a$$, I know. But people are just too sensitive now-a-days and quite frankly I am sick of it. Everyone has an opinion and a voice, don't sit there and tell someone they can't be who they are just because you don't want to hear it.
What I really can't stand is people that come into a discussion and give the poster hell for NO reason. I have seen it from helpful tips to someone needing help, and there's ALWAYS gotta be some jerk who comes in and makes them feel like crap. Well, I don't know if they feel like crap, but I know it is the last thing they expected to see. THAT to me is uncalled for. But "banning" someone because of the way they talk or because the poor baby doesn't want a fight, that's just idiotic to me.

IN my experience it is simply to make those who cant follow rules move on that the caviats are put in to discussions in the first place, so i guess when we do move on everyone is happy

I started a thread about rape and pregnancy and at the end of my post I DID put
"All posts rated and appreciated and please lets not bicker and argue"
Quite frankly I could give a rats rump if ppl do LOL whatever helps a person sleep at night ya know BUT due to the topic I felt the need to add that at the end (something I very rarely do) for those who tend to go into hot topics like that and purposely stir the pot cause they have nothign better to do with their pathetic lives LOL....Bottomline though, if a person comes into a thread of mine wanting a p!ssing match I'm all for it...LOL whatever ya know...

Yes if someone wants to start trouble then they are to be pitied as they obviously do not have a life if this is the only way they can get attention.

I pretty much ignore those do nots either way. If I want to respond to a discussion, I respond. If I don't want to, then I don't. If I find a topic interesting but the original poster has a "do not" that bothers me, I'll respond anyway and just say whatever I want to say. It's not like they have the right to really set or enforce those rules. *shrugs*

Just don't yell or jump onto tables or do armlocks, yea?
It's not that hard usually.
I never care what it was written. I just write the same way for everything.
If I am in a good mood, I try to be diplomatic. If I know a discussion is bound to waste my time - i.e. quarreling, defending, whatever, I will usually just skip the discussion.
I didn't come to myLot to waste my time getting my blood pressure up.

I have not come across any of these discussions. I only respond to discussions where I have something to say and with this large of a community it is a given that what I say will not be universally accepted. Nevertheless, since we are all supposed to be adults here the espression of varied opinions should not be like waving a red flag. People should accept varied viewpoints without rancor and arguement, if they can't then they really should not be on this type of site.

Right on. It's not if we were made from the same mold.
Well alright, you can argue we are made from the same mold but hey, we all know that along the way, the process gets corrupted by all kinds of bac and vir so we are none of us perfect now.:P

I am fairly picky about the discussions I respond to nowadays. This is mostly because I am running out of time & get way too many notifications. So in that case, any discussion that would have guidelines for me to follow, I am sure to ignore.
As you rightly say, My Lot have enough guidelines as it is, & they are sufficient I believe.
