One Step Closer To A Full-time Aid For My Son

Canada
December 8, 2007 8:21pm CST
Just wanting to give an update here and "shout from the roof tops" once again!!! :D We went to a parent teacher interview at my son's school this past week and his teacher mentioned that she wanted him to attend full days!!! I quickly agreed with her and said that my son "has a right" to be there for the full day as his friends are...She fully agreed with me but said he needed a full time aid to do this...I agreed she is going to look into this on Monday and see what she can do about extending his day and getting him more support for the new year!!! We are so thankful for this! So, to make this a discussion... Do you have something to "shout from the roof tops"? Or, perhaps your child has made great progress in a certain area or made you proud some how...Do all of your gloating here! ;) Maybe you have made great progress in something you have been fighting for or have had an answer to prayer...Share all of your victories here also! Thanks in advance for sharing in my triumphs and those of others! ~Heavens~

Hi heavenschild, This is such wonderful news about your son. I'm thrilled to hear this, and it's great that you have his teacher on your side in this. Hopefully those she approaches, will see the importance of this, as well. My daughter has made me very proud of late (as she always does). We had our Christmas banquet last night, and she and a friend from school, sang a duet that they'd performed for their high school vocal class. This is their second performance of this, outside of school, and it was very well received.

You're very welcome, and I do feel kind of sad here too, if you know what I mean. There are 'things in life' I just don't understand. I don't know if you're getting my drift here, but I'm sending a big hug to you too! xxxxxx Thanks. My daughter makes me proud every day, and she's come a long way with her vocal and drama, due to the courses she's taking. Take care.

Was it an IEP? Nothing should be between just you and the teacher. If you haven't had an IEP you need to demand one. Be prepared to fight for everything you believe your son needs. I've been through it before. Dig in your heals and be ready.

No, It was just a regular Parent Teacher Interview that every parent had to go to concerning the report cards. Our son is doing well and we have wanted our son to go full days for a while now...We are happy now that the teacher is behind us and we have actually had success as his school day has been increased by an hour! :) Thanks so much for your response here ~Heavens~

This makes two of us, but this somehow looks familiar to me too!? The 'pinky' part, I mean.

I mean, 'this makes two of us,' as far as the confusion here is concerned.
