Can anyone give me any additional information about these phones. Have/do you have one? What is/was your experience? On Amazon.com, I was reading that they have a way to get 120 free minutes for you and a friend, if they refer you. You can get it even after purchasing the phone. They are on sale at target for $9.99. I purchased mine online and the total came to $18 and some change. My roommate purchased hers last week and she has not had any problems so far. I took a long time to purchase a new cell phone because I only need it to make calls in emergencies. I probably will only give a few people my number. So tell me what you know or have heard. There are mixed reviews on Amazon.com. These were mostly recorded a year ago and the company was made aware of the problem, so I am sure the problem has been fixed. They were say that if you allowed your battery to go dead, you lost everything. Including you phone numbers and minutes. So, what do you think?

I bought one of those for my neice for her birthday a year ago and she hated it. If you pick up your phone and dial they charge a minute. And if someone calls and you dont answer it cost you a minute. She said she appreciated it because I gave it to her but she was very happy when for christmas I traded it in for a go phone which gave her twice as many minutes for the same price and free nights and weekends.

Perhaps different plans depend on people like it or not? I'm not really sure, but my sister liked it since she only used it for emergencies. She said it was perfect for that, but nothing else.

All I want mine for is emergencies. I don't even plan on giving out my number. I just need it for safety reasons.

I had one before and it was ok. You have to buy your minutes and they expire if you don't use them in a certain amount of time. But if you only want this phone for 911 calls you can call on any cell even if it's not being used. Like if you have an old Sprint phone that you never use but it has a charged battery you will be able to call 911 if you need to.

Well, all I can tell you is what I know from when my sister had one about five years ago. She wanted one for emergencies because she lived in the country at the time, and also a state away from us. So when she would come home for holidays, she wanted the assurance she could get help. And she did use it a few times. She told me it was worth it, and since she knows I don't have a lot of money, she said if I felt I needed one for safety reasons only, that the Tracfone was the one to get.

I have a TracFone and I love mine. The only problem I have is that it doesn't pick up very well where I live. My house is down in a really wooded area though. I think I paid 39.99 for mine and it's a camera phone too. The main thing I don't like is that texting used up so much of your minutes. I don't use mine that often either, so I've gotten a lot for my money. I've done research on other pre-paid companies and I do think that TracFone is one of the best. My sister had one but I can't remember who it was through. She didn't like hers because she didn't get much for her money. Her minutes were gone in no time and it costed twice as much as TracFone minutes and she got less. So, you definitely get a lot for your money. My mom and grandma have TracFones too and they love theirs. You made a good choice. :)

Yes, I am really happy with it. I don't use it that much, it is only for emergencies when I am out and about. I can not get with the idea of holding lengthly conversations with people in the grocery store and things like that. It annoys me too much when others do it. One thing that bothers me though is that I keep getting text messages that are a series of numbers. I have not given my number out, so I have no idea who that could be. I guess it is not that bad yet. It has been helping me learn how to use my phone. I guess if it becomes a problem I will have to contact someone.

I got the kyocera, then i got the Motorola W370, im still using both, i'm using the Kyocera for emergencies and calling my home, I'm using the motorola W370 for calling my friends, downloading pictures, ringtones and other things. So far their good if you dont use a phone very much, but if you waste a 200 minute card in a day, you would be better off getting an actual phone contract. the prices arent that bad, $39.99 for 200 minutes and 90 sercive days...... It's annoying juggling two phones around because of the service days being active. I wasted about 17 minutes of my bonus 20 from using the internet, it loads so slow and wastes so much time, and i only downloaded a ringtone that cost me 5.47 minutes........ thats nuts, and the ringtone was a stupid midi............ Otherwise, its great for making small calls.

I've had my TracPhone made by Nokia for over a year and have had excellent service. I've used it in four different states without any difficulty. One thing you might want to do is get a manila envelope and keep all your paper work for your phone togeather, you'll have to use your serial # or ESN every time you purchase new minutes. Also, you can go to www.tracfone.com and sign up to receive specials by e-mail. I too, only use my cell for emergencies or when out of state some times, therfore my time runs out before my minutes run out. Recently they ran a special where I could buy something like 300 or 400 minutes and get 200 free minutes and one year additional time. Prior to switching to Tracfone, I had a 2yr. contract with Verizon. Now I probably spend less than 20% of what it was costing me. But again, I don't use my cell alot.

I am not familiar with Verizon Wrieless. But, I am very familiar with their land line services. In Santa Monica, California, it is the only phone service that you are allowed to have and I do not like it one bit. Their internet service is cool, but their phone service is way too expensive. I can not wait for me Tracphone to be delivered. I have read so much about them. I want to know that everything is going to be good. I do not like having problems with things like that.

I have gotten a Tracfone this past Dec. 08 and I can tell you this, I have'nt lost any of my information at all after letting my battery go completely flat 3x now. Matter of fact, it helps to extend the batter power longer. I charge my Tracfone usually once a week and it's good to go as long as I'm not using it alot. Which I don't. I usually text with my Tracfone, it uses less minutes and it's more convenient all the way around. You can sed 3 text messages for .90 sec. When you just have to press send on the Tracfone, and boom, minutes already are deducting. You know, they never used to charge you right off, only when the call was answered or answering machine.
