The way ICL tournment has gone till now. It looks to me that it is a big failure both in terms of revenue and generating public interest. I do not know what is the reason behind. I could be some politics by BCCI or their own management issue. Tell me what you think about it.

I think ICL on the whole is a failure because the players play there for entertainment value and commercial revenue alone. They are not in that so that they can play at the next level based on their performances at ICL. So overall if you see there is no incentive for players to really play 100% or more. The other aspect is that the fact that these players more or less might not play for India means that the interest amongst the general public is also low. Also, zee by making it available only on Zee sports which has a less coverage meant that only a small portion of the available public actually saw these matches. Thus, all in all it was more or less a failure. Cheers! Ram

I obviously dont think so that ICL will really become a hit with the audiences. Basically the ICL was started by ZEE group in a bid to destroy the monopoly that BCCI enjoys over the cricket telecast rights ever since BCCI rejected the ZEE group's bid to win the telecast rights of cricket matches in India. They even announced the decision to start a league of their own at a time of a dismal performance by the Indian team in the World Cup. But the team bounced backed strongly in the T20 World Cup by winning it. Hopefully this brought in a virtual end to the sensation that ICL has created in the Cricketing fraternity. Adding fuel to the ire is the announcement by BCCI over IPL.The new league promises a lot more glamor and action with the signing of many top cricketers. Any way directly or indirectly the ICL has brought in a lot more excitement...(:-)

Yes it has and best thing is it has prompted BCCI to come up with IPL. All in all players will be benified irrespective of whether ICL is successful or not.

I think one of the positive think of ICL is that the pay scale of domestic players have been rised by the BCCI. Also, some of the domestic players had become famous by shown in the telelvision. Also, the quality of the Indian Domestic cricket will be raised with the exposure to International players. I am also looking forward to see Indian Premier League in which several Inernational players will come and play with domestic players. I think the good think is that more and more quality players will come in team India with ICL and IPL if BCCI allows ICL players to play in the national team. I think most probably ICL will exist for another two to three. I think more marketting is needed and also more coverage of ICL cricket.
