With all the stories of children..teens..being abducted..misled etc..What should be done to improve the saftey of children.. Should they have their own internet ..and internet provider..that is catered only to children. I think children should not be on the internet..there are too many prowlers.

1. Parents should educate kids to beware and careful when using the net. (just like the real world, there's a lot that can cause trouble) 2. Site owners should "know"/prevent and keep safe the people who visit the site. Lastly... 3.. Internet service providers should ban/bar people from using there services and blacklist them from the cybercafes etc. (some sort of site listing threats) these are unlikely but in most cases i belief would help. ~Joey

I agree with number 1..but number 2 and number 3 ..is almost impossible that is why number 1 is really really important..Sometimes these weirdos pose as young people..With thousands upon thousand of internet users..it would be impossible for a provider to net out the abusers..even with the best securities in play.

Hi littlefranciscan! I do agree that children should not be allowed to be in the internet but that is impossible with our modern society. Children have access to almost everything and even though there will be a minimum age limit, still they can deceived people by just typing informations that will pass them as adults. You can see that in bars or clubs too where they carry fake IDs. I think the elders and parents should instill discipline on the children regarding the usage of the internet and to monitor and supervise them but how many kids would allow their parents to have their privacy invaded? Also, educating the children more effectively on the dangers of the internet would be more acceptable, I guess. Just my thoughts. Take care and have a nice day. :)

I agree ..even though it's impossible.. The safety of children are more the responsability of parents then the internet providers. If parents don't know what their children are doing on the internet, then there is no need to point fingers at particular sites as being responsible for the things happening to our young people. Parents need to take the safety of their children seriously..not just offline. but also online. There are plenty of internet alternatives for young adults and children.

I would say the best thing to insure the safety of our children would be to limit the time they spend on the internet;) to monitor their usage when they are online; and perhaps create an internet accesss that is only for children and teens.

I agree with you strangegurl. Filters are something that are necessary and I always thought an internet that is only for children and teens. I wonder how they would keep the perverts off even that. They are professionals at what they do.
