banana peels get rid of fleas

i heard that banana peels help get rid of fleas in the home. i tried it kinda silly i know i layed them all over my house and let them dry and it didnt work for me. has anyone else heard of this working or is there something i did wrong? i tried just about everything the only thing that helped was moth balls but they stink up the house and everything in it but it does work...
