Reread books

What books have you reread all over again? What made you read it again for the second time? For the third time? How long an interval did it took before you reread it? Was there a difference from the first time you read it? How many times do you plan to read it in your lifetime?

Besides the Bible, the books I reread again and again, are Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, and Oliver Twist. There are others that I will not mention, but suffice it to say I love Jane Austin and Charles Dickens as authors. I cannot tell you the interval, because I do not keep count, sometimes it has been a year, sometimes a few months, sometimes in between. When I read the second time, I started to pay more attention to the details and not just rush through the plot to find out what happened. Now I went over the descriptions, and tried to imagine how the characters looked like, the structure of the buildings, and the way that the sentences were constructed. I have so many books now, that I do not know when I will read them again.

Glad to hear that you have reread the Bible, the book of books, again and again, most have not read it even once.

I usually don't because life is so short that I want to read as many different books as I can, but I have re-read Gone With the Wind at least 4 times and I've lost count of how many times I've re-read Little Women in my life so far. They're just like old friends and I never get tired of them. I still find them touching, poignant and enjoyable. I'll also re-read Harry Potter a few times I'm sure, as I'm a bit of a geek about them!

I reviewed all of the books you mentioned and noticed that all were written by female authors. Books written by male authors are generally more sensible as compared to the more sentimental writings of female authors. Reading Pilgrim's Progress alongside Little Women would be more insightful.

Yes I reread favourite books quite often actually...some of them I've read 4 or more times actually (like The Selkie and Weaveworld)...How long in between? It varies..sometimes it'll only be a few months and sometimes it'll be several yrs..

Pardon me but this is my first time to hear about this title, I went to search the internet and it looks like a science fiction fantasy book. I wonder what is in that book that made you read it again and again and again.

If I enjoy reading a book, then I'll very likely reread it at some point. The interval varies, I might be looking for a book to read and it's generally just the first one that I pick up. I have read "War and Peace" twice though :-)

i don't reread books. I don't like already knowing what is going to happen in a book.

well if u stop reading thrillers and start with sci-fiction u will be able to know that even rereading is good.

This is specially true with a story book, most of the thrill are gone when one already knows the ending but there is more in a story besides the ending.

I have read Pride and Prejudice for several times. But each time I didn't finish it. The first time i just read it for fun, for the story of Elizabeth and Darcy. The second time i read it for some useful vacabulary. And the third time i read it for some materials for my thesis. So, I think reading can make me feel fulfilled.

I've read this one a few times too. I love Jane Austen's writing and I've read all of her books. The subtle humour is addictive. My favourite is probably Sense and Sensibility though. It always makes me cry!

well i have read the books like lord of the rings or Artemis fowl umpteen number of times. Every time i just take out a page and start rereading from there. i try to remember the scenes happened and then analyze its impact on the the future of the story . then i re think that what if this would have happened here , what change would it bring later. at last i sometimes try to enact some scenes if possible. i usually reread books only after 6 or 7 months.

Lots of the books that I read as a kid that they have made into movies now a days, I have re read. The last two I read was Bridge to Teribithia and The Chronicles of Narnia. It took me more than 10 years to decide to re read them, but I am glad that I did. Smile!!

I red The Neverending Story at least 4 complete times, maybe even 5. Rereading a book that you particularly love is a great way to understand it deeper, as if a book is really good there's always added meaning that you wont notice on the first way thru. I dont plan on reading things, when i want to reread a book i just start doing it, and if i get to the end again that's good. If not i'll just leave it there or maybe take it again a few days after i left it. Neverending Story however i'm planning to read it again, since many years have passed since when i did it last time, i cant even find the book any longer..
