OMG! My brain is freakin' fried!!

The good news (if you can call it that) is that I B'ed Econ and I think I did okay on part 1 of the math final. My GPA is shattered. Bye-bye 3.9, thank you, Mr. Chen. Believe it or not, it's possible that I may A out in Psych (yep, the same class I've been whining about for the last 16 weeks) and in Accounting 201 (1 percent shy with one assignment & a final to help pull that up to an A). I want to publicly thank DavidReedy for helping me comprehend the psych article's terminology (it had been translated from French and there was a word used that is nonexistent in American dictionaries). The story helped tremendously. I B'ed that paper, btw, David, THANK YOU. Now, about my brain being fried. I cannot comprehend diddly right now, there is no intelligence left in me today. I've been stressing on Mr. Chen's class since Thursday, which helped, believe it or not. I got mad enough to decide that the class would not beat me. He seems like a really nice man, as long as the females in his class are seen and not heard. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a women's libber, but do believe both sexes deserve to be spoken to with respect, etc. I was a bit stressed over the Econ final, who wouldn't be, but it wasn't bad. I got lucky and ran into my prof, Mr. Outland, who is a great guy. He decided to mess with me and tell me that I got a D. I know I would have had to literally flunk that final with a 40% or lower to pull that off, so I was like "NOWAY!" And he laughed hysterically and said "had ya going for a second, no, you got a B." Last semester (and the 2 before that) would have really set me off, but since spending a semester with Mr. Chen, I've learned that B's aren't so bad--they sure beat a friggin' F, anyway. 3 finals down, 2 to go. *figuring new tentative GPA* Ok, I guess it's not so bad. Even if I can only manage B's in psych & accounting, I'll still have a 3.625, which keeps me in Phi Theta Kappa and IAAP. Whew. My brain's still fried, but I am feeling somewhat better now. Thank you, myLot for giving me a place to vent. So, now for the discussion questions: Do you experience test anxiety (or did you if you're done with this college business), and if so, how do/did you deal with it? and Do you think it is fair to put things on tests that have not being covered by either the class sessions or the textbook?

Yeah i definatley had test anxiety. I can study for weeks before a test but when it comes to the night before the test I always end up craming all night long. I'm done with my finals. Did farely well on mine. Be proud of that gpa though. I've got a 2.65 gpa and thats because my first year i did nothing but party. Flunked a few classes and it dropped my gpa bad. You know how hard it is to bring a gpa up and how much easier it is to lower it. Goodluck with the rest of your finals.

Nice to meet you BigMack28. Welcome to the land of Lotaholics, lol. I understand the partying. I did it the first time around years ago after highschool. I never missed a class, but tended to bring my party with me (since I worked, I had mostly night classes anyway). Pink or Purple Passion on the rocks or Dark Eyes Cherry Vodka with coke in my to-go cup. Shame on me. It is far easier to lower the GPA than it is to raise it...and lucky you being done with finals! I have 2 more tomorrow then I'm done. Kind of working on ACC homework right now then the cramming comes after dinner. Do you mind if I ask how long you have before graduation? You might still be able to pull off a higher GPA given enough time. Thank you for the good wishes & good luck to you too. Ciao4now, Shannon

Glad you vented VI /comfort /console Sorry things kinda went south, but at least your GPA is still respectable, and college life goes on. You did your best too. As for your questions, yes a couple of times I did experience test anxiety, but not as much as **presentation!** anxiety -_-. For tests using outside information, that is bogus but most times its a question here and there and one is warned about it. If its something obvious or close to it, I think its fair too. If its a "last minute surprise"(or worse many of them) then its unfair, especially after people spent all night, all weekend, all week studying the class material.
