Mylot Interest Rankings. What do you think of this feature?

I just found out a few hours ago that there is a new feature added behind our user ID. Such as life level this and people level that etc. How do you find this ranking system? I mean we already have the star, that's sort of popularity ranking and now we are ranked within our own interests?

For the most part, I think it's alright, but not very accurate. It's supposed to give us an idea of who has more expertise in an area, but if they are new to that area, or haven't been there long, you just can't tell. I guess time will tell if it has value or not. I think it more tells you what topics someone spends more time in. It'd be great if you could go to their profile and see them all together.

is that what it supposed to do? because above your avatar you can see the explanation that this ranking is to show how well we are perceived, kind of what the star is for

I really dont understand it; to tell you the truth..my ranking is 15 ..and I have been stuck on star 9 for more then a year..I would rather reach 10 where I was..I can't figure out the interest ranking..but I guess I will as time goes buy.

It's kind of fun to see where everyone levels but since we still have the star it seems useless

I just hope that it would not be abused by some disgruntled members just like what is happening to the star system. Although it does not affect the earnings but is surely did affect the moral of other members who are here not for the ranking but for the discussions and any other things beside ranks.

that's true. my average earnings when I was 10 and when I was 6 didn't change, so star rating doesn't affect earnings. but if someone wants to abuse this new system, can they do that by - again - marking negative?

Some were done right, others were done wrong (science for example has an entire top users of people who I've NEVER seen in science threads ever since I started here.) I just take it as another secret calculation that makes no sense similar to the star rating system of utter-nothing. Rigged star system already exists, I'm not surprised at how bogus this new system is turning out.

that's odd. you never see them in that interest and all of the sudden they're on top? I mean I rarely post on mylot.com but I did now and then, so at least people saw me a couple of times

It really doesn't mean a whole lot to me. So what if my ranking is high or low. I don't think it will effect people from responding or not. When I read a discussion I don't even look at the number because it makes no difference to me if its a 16 or a 1. If I like the discussion and I have something to add to it, I will. I won't not do a response just because the number is low or high. It won't help me to determine if I am going to respond. How about you? Are you not going to respond just because it has a low number?

I only respond to interesting discussions. even if you are my friend but I'm not interested with your discussions I won't reply. I've had star 10 for over 5 months and now it's down to 9, it doesn't bother me since my earnings average stay the same

I really don't get it. I mean what is the point to it? Why do we need it? It just doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. Oh well, I guess I just won't pay any attention to it.

I know. I think it's interesting but then we still have the star, which also shows how well we are perceived in mylot as a whole. so this interest ranking is kind of dividing this total popularity count into smaller segments, but who wants to know that?

I think it will create more problems than before. Mylot never return people's emails, but is working hard on next ranking? bs

the star is already problems for some people, especially when theirs are down because they thought somebody deliberately mark them negative. It's kind of fun to know how everybody levels at their interests in a way, but I hope nobody will take it too seriously if their rank is down.

that's why I'm hoping nobody will get all upset when their rank is down. I don't know if this can happen, but we'll see

I guess they have a reason for it...We may not see what that reason is but they must have one, otherwise why use up space on the website putting it on here? Maybe an in depth explanation is needed. What does it mean to have a high rank in one subject and a low rank in another? Maybe it's just to let others know what our interest is, or how much we know about that subject. Oh, well they must have their reason and I wont question them.

Generally speaking, this feature won't say much but it doesn't mean there is no advantage at all. You'll know what kind of interests your friends or others are likely to answer your discussions.

"Interest Rankings are a way to measure how well myLot users are perceived by the community within a particular interest" I don't think has anything to do with whether I will get responses from my friends or not. They can always do that by going to Discussions My friends Started and find my discussions there. I seldom posted in Making money and yet my rank there is quite high so this number doesn't have anything to do with activity but more of how others perceive me in that interest category, at least that's what it says

I don't much care for it, but then again, I don't know if I understand it. I just saw the feature a few hours ago, I had been gone. I have a feeling I'm not going to pay a bit of attention to it.

the Mylot interest rankings are a good idea in my opinion as it helps us to know which discussions we are more interested in and the ones we are not

if you look at it that way, it makes sense but it is about how well myLot users are perceived by the community within a particular interest not about what we are interested in

i think it's on how knowledgable you are on the subject, or rather how actively you participate in that interest discussion? i find it quite useful, cos it helps us to see who is a veteran on a certain subject, or who has just added it to their interests. not sure whether these rankings translate into earnings or whether they are just there for general knowledge though.

What are interest rankings? Interest Rankings are a way to measure how well myLot users are perceived by the community within a particular interest. you can find this description above your avatar

Theres a lot of this going around. Its kind of like the flu. I just think it will take some getting used to when we all figure it out. It is kind of confusing and weird. All of my numbers are the pits!

yes,it puzzles me and I think it's absolutely unwanted.I mean that if somebody post and response actively in some of these interests, most of us will see it clearly, then what's the interest ranking going for? In other words, ranking ,no ,maybe influence prestige is based on the quality and quantity of everyday's discussion. What's more, mislead may be borned that we intend to believe those high ranking guy's saying.

another good point. I mean we will see this everyday and some people may not feel that it is fair if others have higher rank and then start spying on their discussions

I am very confused. Is one bad or is 11 bad? Is it because of what you really are, or what others think that you should be? I noticed that on the Christian ranking, those who adhere and follow Christ according to HIS teaches are getting ones while those who think that any way leads to heaven, gets high ranks such as nine to eleven. So I think the ranking is the perception of others. I do not exactly trust it.

it says up there that this ranking is based on how others perceive us within the same interest. but you're right I don't know if lower number is better or the other way around and does it affect earnings, because I know my star could go up and down yet my earnings stay.

I personally don't know what to think of it. I like the star, except I think that there are some that abuse this feature. If anything MyLot admin should rank us, not the mylotters themselves. I feel that if we were ranked this way there would be a better chance at having fair and impartial rankings and this new ranking feature wouldn't even be needed. But this is just my opinion. :)

you could be right. I don't know yet how this new feature can be abused but I feel that this is still a possibility
