I am often amazed when dogs don't feel cold or don't need to wear shoes when walking through snow during winter. Don't their feets feel numb? Do you know why? Why don't they also need to wear clothes during winter? I know... I know... because they have furs. However, some dogs don't have any fur at all.

Dogs have thick padding on their feet which helps keep them warm. It insulates the feet.

because the skin found on their paws are very thick and their fur keeps them in getting warm as well.............

My long haired dog, Haley, doesn't mind the W. Oregon temperatures that get down to around 10 or 15 degrees at the coldest She could probably hang out in Alaska and be quite content. My other dog, Casey Jones, is a short haired part dalmation/pit bull/boxer. You can actually see him start to shiver when the temperature gets around 20 degrees outside...so I bring him in on cold nights. But, some dogs actually do get cold and are not built for harsh winters like Huskies or St. Bernards.
