According to the BBC, the the Arctic oceans will be completely ice free in summer by 2013. That is barely six years away. That blew my mind, cuz that is just faster than fast.
*
That much fresh water in the ocean can threaten the Gulf Stream currents that keep Europe warm. That can give England the climate that Alaska shivers in as they are generally in the same latitude.
*
That doesn't take into consideration what all that extra ocean water will do to all the world's coastal cities, many of whom are all but sitting on top of the current ocean. A rise of just three feet can drown several, we are talking double digits here.

I think we need to turn our attention to adaptation.
*
We need to focus on learning how to grow our food in this new situation, to harvest water from new sources. We need to find new sources of food. Governments are turning a blind eye to the problem. Not everyone is content to bury their heads in the sand and let this situation kill us. There are progressive companies that are looking to do just this.
*
One such company is Aquamaker. They are still working kinks out of their products. However, they do have products that literally turn humid air into drinkable water. This may be a godsend to the American South East.

Another eye to adaptation is the vertical farm project. It calls for the edible plants to come in out of the wilderness and grow in the protection of an indoor greenhouse in the city. It is surprisingly cost effective when you consider all the water recycling involved, solar panels, and stuff.

I don't worry about these scary events. that will or could happen I think its better just to make plans to care of my self and my family. I don't know if you ever been to alaska. but its weather is changing. I have lived in Alaska all my life in different towns. its getting warmer in certain parts of alaska. I can't believe what does happened here in Southeast Alaska. just 3 days ago it was snowing small flakes, and the next morning we had a sheet of snow. which wasnt'much just enough to cover some of the grass. then the next day it rained all day. then yesterday no snow or ice for the most part. we got some small patches of ice here and there. Here it looks like winter is ending and I know that ain't true. not until March or April is winter over for us alaskan's.

That is screwy. I think that the sun is causing much of this oddball weather. I seriously don't think Human kind is.

There is also a very large number of volcanoes going off adding their heat to the equation. What the man-causing-global-warming crowd is not taking into account is that there are volcanoes waking up under the arctic. If you had a volcano under you you'd sweat just a bit too. I am not blowing this business off as trivial, I am saying that we have serious adjusting to do, and no amount of carbon trading and or habit changing is going to alter these facts. They will get us off the dependency on Mid East oil. That is a good goal in and of itself.

I saw that same report and I find that very frightening, to say the least! I guess there will still be enough in global warming denial, however; I don't know what more evidence they need to accept this is a real problem and it's not going to go away by ignoring it.

Global warming denial is mainly on governmental level. Business is not ignoring it because it will impact their bottom line one way or another. That impact can be positive or negative depending on the action taken. There are people taking steps to adapt to this situation and make positive change.
