Does the children fair off well in relationships where the fathers only acted as sperm doners?

Children adapt. I was an only child until my mom married my step-dad when I was 10. I was very independent at first, my mom worked a lot so I could go to a private school. When my mom first got married it was rough but eventually we blended as a family. I married my second husband when my daughter was 6 and she loves her step-dad. She actually gets mad when people refer to him as her step-dad. I guess really it all depends on how the mom and other family members handle it. I mean I think I turned out ok.
