What to do when no vocal teachers in your area

I have the Cd "Singing is Easy" but it talks about singing in the mask, which I learned is not the best way to do it. Now there are no vocal teachers, professionals in my area, only those who were singers themselves and then decided to tell what they learned. I cannot afford to go to University, and I know that a friend can help me but only up to a point. I was wondering, therefore, if there were any Cds or downloadable lessons that were written by professional vocal teachers and or coaches. I am interested in classical, am a high soprano, and I do have a microphone and recording device plus an mp3 that I can put the recordings on.

Since you started this discussion three weeks ago, have you found any new information such as voice lessons over the internet? Is there such a thing? It looked like Marcia had gave you a few leads! Wish I could be of help here. Just curious as to what you found in voice lessons over the internet.

When I wanted to find a Teacher to help me with Guitar Lesson, I found a School right online, and now I have been taking classes with this Music Teacher for a couple of months, I wrote a topic about him, and you will see him and it gives you a lot of information about him, check it out, I don't know if you answered it or not. but that is how I found him through the internet. and he is really good. And another thing the owner of the school gives voice lessons. www.celebrityschoolofmusic.com I don't know if the website works but we will see.

It works. I suppose I will have to travel to Ohio for the lessons. Do they give them online or through a web cam?

I wouldn't have the first clue to teach myself how to sing. However, my sister teaches the piano and gives vocal lessons. She has a Master's in that type of thing. So if I wanted to learn more, which I told her I do, she would help me.

I have a friend who was a classical singer and another one who is a pianist, so besides getting some Cds, they are the only ones who can help me.

my teen girl is quite naturally gifted in voice, but, we live in the boonies and like you there are no coaches available to us. I would really like to get her some training as she has had none and I think it would be good to develop a natural talent. She is also a gifted artist, but again needs direction that is not available to us. I hope you are able to find what you are seeking.

I hope your daughter finds a good voice teacher. I have a friend who took classical training, and she helps me a bit, but there is only so much she can do.

There are some teachers that are getting into video and phone singing lessons. I'm not sure where you could find them but I'm sure you could do a search on the internet. I know my teacher is looking into it. You could also buy books, cds and audiobooks that have singing lessons on them. We are lucky these days because there are just so many resources at our fingertips. You just need willpower and discipline to stick with it!

Thank you. I have a singing Cd, and I want to get one that is more advanced. I am already doing appegios, scales, humming and ng exercises plus trying to increase my range to the point where it does not sound squeaky.
