Optic light mouse - makes me want to set a trap!

I just bought an optic mouse. Really having a hard time getting used to it! That little red light is annoying! Once you arrow down the page, to get back to the top you have to lift the mouse as the mouse pad is only so big, but then that little light is the "player" so it shines upwards and when I put the mouse back down on the pad, it hasn't changed locations casue the red light shines where you point it and it is back to where it was. Any suggestions on how to make it work better? I am constantly just trying to get the mouse/red optic light to make the cusor go to where I need it to go! Dont' really want to have to return it but, good grief, this is annoying! Any suggestions?

I would exchange it for a different style, because I've quite a bit of experience with mice and never had one behave like that! Even if it is not defective, a mouse should do what you want it to do, and that one obviously doesn't. There are many mice to choose from. You deserve one that is comfortable, speedy, and goes where it is supposed to go.

I agree with the others. Try it without the mousepad. Give yourself time to get used to the mouse and wonder how you got along without it. They're faster and more precise in my opinion.

I agree with the first person that responded. An optical mouse doesn't need a mouse pad. The mouse pad was simply for ball mice that needed a smoother surface to roll on. That may help. If not, I would exchange it and go for another brand/design. Optical mice are great and are 'supposed' to not cause problems like these. It's all about upgrading from the normal ball mice. =P

Maybe you have a defective mouse. I have had a few optical mouses (or is it mice? :P LOL) and I've never had this problem. I love my optical mouse and hate the old ball style. Darn thing drove me nuts! LOL BTW Did you ever set the mouse to how you want it? This could be the reason why it's not working correctly. Just a thought! :)

thank you all for suggestions. I didnt' know I didn't need a pad. That might help my problem. I'll fiddle with it and see how it works. I was having trouble with the red light moving when I picked up the mouse. Humm... no mouse pad ssems to be helping. Okay, maybe I have taken one more step into the 21st century!!
