I need a new vacuum cleaner, mine just does not get the dog hair. I was looking at the Dyson but I think they are way too expensive and a bunch of hype. I think I want a kenmore but oreck is good too. Anyone have a good vacuum that doesn't cost a fortune? I need one that is good with animal hair. thanks

I bought a Dirt Devil, on sale for $35 or $40. I don't have pets, but my sister has 5 cats and she swears by the DD. I have spent much more on more expensive vacuum cleaners that crapped-out after 8 or 9 months, but my DD keeps going.
I have heard that Oreck's are awesome, but they are costly.

5 cats would be a good testament for a vacuum! I think Oreck's are pricey too, they did say they give a year's worth of bags but I don't know if that adds enough value.

get the kenmore vacuum, it is red and has a compartment for all the attachments...it is a bag sweeper - but i'm realizing that is a heck of a lot better than fussing & screwing with air filters and dust...i saw it in action a few weeks ago. i don't know if it is as powerful as the dyson...but i want one!!!!!

I think you are right, I had a bagless and I don't like cleaning it out. It looks like the kenmore did good on consumer reports. Thanks for your input!
