I'm trying to remember some titles from my childhood, and I seem to be in a fog. Were there any children or teen books you remember and possibly still have?

When I was in grade school my favorite books were The Boxcar Children. My three kids have all read some of them too. It is based on four orphans who spend a summer living in an old train boxcar.

Boxcar Children sounds like exactly the kind of book my daughter would love. She loves adventures.

When I was in grade school, I used to borrow Nancy Drew, Dana Girls, Hardy Boys and The Bobbsey Twins books from our school library. My library card never lasted for more than a month because I would borrow a different book everyday :) I also loved Trixie Belden mysteries which my best friend had a collection of. In high school though, I graduated to Sweet Dreams and Sweet Valley High books.

I loved the Little House on the Prairie series! I read probably most of them. They were good books with morals to the story and also about daily life in general. I also loved Little Women. I wish I still had these books! Would make an awesome collection! Happy Holidays to you!

As a young child, I remember loving Dr Seuss books. When I got a little older, it was The Babysitter's Club, and Sweet Valley Twins/ Sweet Valley High. The were all series, and I loved getting the new ones each month. I gave the ones that survived to my niece a few years back.

I loved the Sideways Stories of Wayside School and James and the Giant Peach. My friend found the Sideways book at a flea market over the summer. I think I was in like 3rd grade when I read that and 4th grade for James and the Giant Peach. Also the Goosebumps books were really popular when I was in elementary school.

Since someone has already recommended Little Women, I'll pick something else. There was a series of books by Elizabeth Enright that dealt with the Melendy family. The books were The Saturdays, The Four Story Mistake, Then There Were Five, and Spider Web for Two. Those were fun to read.

Besides the usual Enid Blyton books, I used to read a lot of detective novels. I can't really remember who and what because I would read all kinds of authors and really didn't bother about who wrote it. I loved the Agatha Christie books...and also P.G. Wodehouse

When I was quite young I loved a picture/poetry book called Animalia. I liked the Chronicles of Narnia series when I was about 10 or so, and Where the Red Fern Grows at about the same time. I remember being really into Sweet Valley High and The Babysitter's Club as well! :)

A thick collection of fairy tale stories. I grew up loving that book and we still have them now. I even look at it once in a while to remember some stories. I also grew up with Dr. Seuss' books. They're funny and well illustrated so I really enjoyed flipping those over and over. Some of them are still with us but the others are gone.

I know what you mean, it's foggy for me too. But now that I think back, I really didn't read much in elementary school, but got really into books in middle school. I loved all Roald Dahl and Tamora Pierce. I also loved some others that I can't remember the titles of anymore...The Secret of Platform 13, I think, and other titles by the same author.

My all time favorite childhood book was "Island of the Blue Dolphins" by Scott O'Dell. I read it over and over, twice a year. I wonder why I don't own a copy...
