Christmas Vacation or Winter break?

My son's school calls it Christmas Vacation. His old school called it Winter Break. I know a lot of schools have started to steer away from adding anything religious to the school holidays, so I was surprised to find that they call it Christmas Vacation. What is is called where you live?

It was always called Christmas vacation, I was raised in Texas, and it is still referred to that now. However, I did notice that when I moved to the Northeast, that it was mostly refered to as Winter break, I'm not sure if that is because there is more of a winter of up than down south, or if it's just a regional type thing.

Eid doesn't always fall around christmas at Kuwait...and yes, we do have cold weather (I don't know if it's different now due to global warming - it's been more than 8 years since I left). But when I was younger, it used to get cold in winter.

When I was at school in the middle east, we didn't really have a vacation then and just had a day off for Christmas and one for the New Year's. But at my son's school in India, it's not called Winter vacations or Christmas vacations. It's more like a term break and that's what they call it....especially since we have kids from many religions here.

Schools here, and most colleges here say Christmas vacation. Oklahoma University is the only one I've heard actually officially call it winter break. No really seems to care, because it's not like we have to refer to it as anything. What is odd to me is when schools do plays and call them winter plays, yet the play itself is all about Christmas. Say what? lol

I noticed that too about the plays and school concerts. All the songs at the concerts are Christmas songs.
