Did you know that your lipstick may be causing your asthma?

Or may be a trigger for your asthma like symptoms - trouble breathing or wheezing or your headaches or nasal congestion? Many lipsticks and other cosmetics contain aspirin or a salicylate compound that can cause these symtoms as well as blemishes, itching, irritation, stomach pain, rash and swelling of hands, feet or face. It is also a trigger for herpes sores which can appear outside the mouth, in the cheek, gums, tongue, roof of the mouth, palate, lips. If you have herpes sores, please throw away your current lipsticks, even your toothbrush - which should be changed every month or so due to buildup of germs and loss of optimal efficiency. Lipsticks powders and foundation that contain lanolin can cause vomiting, diarreah and rash. Sharing of cigarettes, toothbrushes and yes, even lipstick can spread and menigitis and encephalitis are contagious. Feeling a little nervous - it gets worse! Know someone with breast cancer, endometriosis, reproductive disorders, birth defets or developmental disabilities and ask yourself why us? The answer could be your cosmetics. Your lipstick and nail polish - or the nail polish your little girl uses can contain ephthalates, formaldehyde, petroleum, parabens, benzene and lead as basic ingredients These and other toxic metals were found by by an environmental advocacy group, , EWG, who examined 711 lipsticks and found that over 25% contained ingredients associated with cancer. Scary huh? Other cosmetic products are full of toxic metals. So if you thought that your nausea and possible subsequent vomiting, your stomach cramps, or your rashes, your constant joint and bone pain, mouth sores, cancer, stillbirths, genetic damage, immune dysfunction, brain and learning disorders, and impulsive and violent behavior were just the luck of the draw, think again. Please look into oh and the products with the highest amounts of lead were (and the winners are drum roll please): * L'Oreal Colour Riche "True Red," containing 0.65 parts per million (ppm) of lead * L'Oreal Colour Riche "Classic Wine," containing 0.58 ppm * Cover Girl Incredifull Lipcolor "Maximum Red," containing 0.56 ppm * Dior Addict "Positive Red," containing 0.21 ppm

Much of it isn't regulated by the fda. I think its best to buy natural make up. Next time I buy I'm going to look for Ayervedic or maybe Lush as someone suggested up there.

Hi artemis, This is quite an information! I knew about the skin hazard thing but had got no idea about asthma. We should indeed be judicious in choosing our lip colors. I do not share my lipstick with anyone so that part is not at risk. Thanks for sharing this.

Not just lip colors but how long you keep the lipstick. :)
