If you have depression do you take something for it? If so what? Has it made your life better or worse?

At one time I suffered from depression but a few years back I got professional help and the doctor gave me a medication to take for it. I can't for the life of me remember what it was but I only took it for a few months and then stopped with no problems at all - I think it helped and now that I've done it am glad I did.

Do you think you may ever need it again if you have more episodes or was it enough to get you back on track?

I really have no way of saying if I could ever need it again or not. I know if I started to see the signs again I would seek help faster than I did before. What happened to me was although I've always been basically a happy person and a servivor: I lost my dream job due to cut-backs Found out my fiance was messing around on me Came down with mono (had me down for nearly 2 months) Then I lost my home of 23 years. I went into major depression and all those things were totally out of my control. I have no idea what will happen in the future.

Who have the wealth of self confidence could face the depression and confusion very well. Self confidence presents success in every field of life. Complete rest, taking every thing and every issue easy is the factors which cause to decrease the condition of depression and it heal the problem. We should also keep us busy in prayers to avoid the extra ordinary thinking and taking care. Exercises and dieting is also good to avoid the depression.

i know for the past fourty years if not longer i have suffered depression at varing degrees. From severe to not too bad .This is a result of abuse as a child and subsiquent abuse after . But i a have been getting help for about fifteen years from first the family dr who screwed up me even worse ,several hospital admissions as it got to the stage where life to me just wasn`t worth the pain it was causing .Recent admission to a clinic where i recieved excellent care and was placed on the correct medication for my illness. The medication has helped in a great way the only draw back is the side effects that i now have to live with . While in the clinic i was taught to use relaxation as a tool for coping this has been most effective. The depression i now know will be with me for the rest of my life but it`s how it is managed is the key to coping . I talk regularly with a couple of psychologist and keep in contact with my dr but all this would not work if i didn`t have the support of a loving husband. I hope you can find what works best for you wether it be medication, relaxation or talking to a dr/psychologist to help you cope and live a full life .I wish you well

Hello, ecogal! when you are feeling depressed go for a walk for at least 15/20 minutes, try coming closure to the nature...feel the sand on the beach, the texture of petals, appreciate God's creation, come home, take a deep breath and visualize all that you just saw and felt.avoid polarising your thoughts.focus your mind in good feelings.think of God with all sincerity with a pure heart and chant some Mantra/devotional songs.you will feel vibration in your body which means the power is awaking in your body.always remember,God is within your heart,in your soul, have faith on Him and get lost with Him you will feel relaxed after some time and all stress and tensions of life will evaporate.have good diet have plenty of fluid.when you are understress or depression certain hormones work over time.to balance that have proper diet.carbo-rich snacks, even a banana could also be a good bet for combating crankiness.eating carbohydrates boosts your levels of feel good brain chemicals.another important nutrient you need to fight depression is vitamin B6,found in meat, lever, whole grains, and vegetables like potatoes.you can also take yogurt which is high in riboflabin, another mood boosting -B.beans are rich in folate,a heart disease fighting vitamin that may help mend broken heart.thank you.
