medical operations...anyone?

There are a lot of people who are afraid of medical operations for any reasons and whether it is minor or major. How about you? Are you afraid of it? Did you undergone with it? For what reasons?
I had two minor and three major operations. And I must say I was frightened by it. But through prayers, healthy mind and body, and willingness to survive helped me make it through.

Hi dear
i have not experienced such thing just a very minor operation of my toe nail(i had ingrowing nail) but it was very minor. and they did it in front of my eyes,
not much afraid of it as its better to get it done rather then suffering

I do not like the idea of any type of surgery. I had a semi bad experience many years ago. I had a broken wrist many years ago as a child. This tore some muscles in my wrist. I grew bone spurs and did not know what this was. The Drs had no idea as to why my hand got very weak not even being able to hold an EMPTY cup. They wanted to do "exploaratory" surgery to find the cause. I waited 2 weeks after this surgery to find out what the mass they removed was. I was terrified it was cancerous etc. Not even the nurse would tell me. I had to wait for a Drs appt 2 weeks later. Only to find out it was bone spurs removed and nothing serious. Grrr!

I've had 2 operations in my life - a heart operation when I was 3 and a C-section last year. I was too young to feel scared of an operation the first time. I wasn't scared the second time either. It was an emergency C-section and before I knew it, I was being wheeled in and having my C-section. I was a bit worried during the operation though...but never really scared. I don't think I'll be scared of any operation.

if you are going to the right surgeon you shouldnt be afriad of surgury.. i have gone for several surgies and there is only one that i am afraid of.. well not afriad but worried about...
i have had 3 left knee
2 right knee
2 ankle
2 nose
1 jaw
2 left ankle
2 right ankle
4 left leg
1 right leg
2 right shoulder (rotator cuffs)
and the one that im worried about is back surgury the surgeon gave me a 50/50 chance of being paralized

I have undergone 1 major operation - appendectomy and 3 minor operations... I was not afraid of it because I was 13 when I undergone appendectomy, so I didn't know what the doctor is doing. And I am also one of those children who are not afraid of doctors when I was young, may be because my mother trained me to do so... I am a nurse and one therapeutic approach that I tell to patients is "Mind to tell me more?" hehehe
