Is it wrong for CHRISTIANS to selfdefend ourselves when we are in trouble

Well, I don't have a religion so I'll speak from that point. I think you have every right to defend yourselves, escpecially if you are being attacked because of your religion. A person being Christian/Muslim/Jewins or whatever is not an excuse to try to take someones life. I think starting a program is a great idea.

Hi hidden, I think it is right to defend ourselves against those who want to harm us because we worship the Lord. We know God will protect us...even if we do die from what they do, we will still go to Heaven. Can you tell us more about the organization you want to start? God bless:)

Well, our Church just had a major Evangelistic outreach going on last week. We were able to hand out flyers, fruit snacks, etc. to a lot of people, and even talked to some people to where we had some get baptized, etc. It did pay off nicely as Sunday we had at least 117 first time visitors with us, and we are continuing to want to do this thru 2008 and keep on seeing the results. Good Luck with this. It is possible.

jesus said "if you have not a sword, then go and buy one." when he sent his deciples out. He did not ask us to be put down like sheep. he also said "I come not to bring peace to the world, but the sword... and put father against son and brother against brother." He never asked us to lay down our lives needlessly thats why he came, to lay his life down for us. We are to arm ourselves to defend ourselves from those that hate us becouse of his name. He did not though ask us to wage war aginst them. We are not to convert under the sword, but only defend ourselves if need be. We do not have the authority to wage war against anyone becouse of religan. So be sure your purpose is to defind inocent life and not revenge.

What did Jesus do when his life was threatened? I can't understand how Christians can say one thing and do another? Its so very obvious what Jesus did in order to save his own life.Should Christians follow the example set by their Saviour? Read your Bible if you want, but for God's sake try to learn something from it!

From what I understood you want to protect yourselves from attacks that are already occurring. Of course it's right. Don't listen to anyone here talking about turning the other cheek or any crap like that. What are you people thinking? Being Christian doesn't mean let people kick the crap out of you. You're not some martyr dying trying to spread the good word. If it meant that how could any Christian country justify having military to defend itself? I agree that you should in no way provoke or instigate violence in the name of your religion but as a Christian you have every right to defend yourself from people trying to do you harm. Christians have defended themselves but mostly attacked other religions since their inception so don't feel any remorse protecting you and your family.

I think it's very wrong for people to kill or take lives because of religion. I also think it's wrong for people to make others join their religion.

As a christian we are suppose to be loving and compationate to people. We are suppose to love those who hate us more than those who are for us. If someone is attacking you, you shouldn't let them kick your butt all over town. That's ridiculous. But as far as starting an altercation to get a message out that's not ok.
