Quilts...When It Rains, It Pours LOL

Well, I have slowly been trying to get back into my quilting and it seems that someone upstairs is sending me a big message LOL
I have a friend up North that wants me to make two small quilts for her two girls. One is purple with a crown and wand and the other is pink with a crown and wand and each one has their names on it.
Then my Mom called this morning and asked me to make one for my younger brother with the Mormon temple in St. Louis on it. The pic below is that temple. The only difference is she wants the background to be dark blue and add a moon so it is a nighttime scene. It'll be a challenge but I think it'll turn out great. It's also last minute since she wants it before Christmas.
Have you ever had to do a last minute gift for someone? Do you think I'll make it? LOL
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

Yes, she's supplied all the materials so it's just the time that it takes to do it. I've got two laid out for a friend that I have to get done first then I can start the temple one.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

YOU may make it with only finishing the top - your mother can place a note inside telling your brother that it will be completed in the New Year.
Hopefully you'll be paid for this service even if it is your mothers wish to have it made, she'd have had to pay someone else if you were not back into your quilting mode.
I know I could never get a quilt done in a rush, I always make stupid mistakes when I have to work on a ruch. My quilts take too long for me to do something like a quilt for a gift in a hurry...LOL
GOOD LUCK and let us know how it all turned out for you.

I think I can get it completely done if I just stick to it and don't get distracted. She is buying all the supplies so that part is taken care of. I actually work good under pressure...as long as my Niece and Nephew don't show up LOL
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

I've sold a few on Ebay and several have been made as gifts. Most of the time I have the person wanting it buy all the fabric, batting and backing and I just do the putting together. I used to have alot of help when we had foster kids but now it's just me. LOL
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

You have fun making your quilts. I'm sure they will come out just fine. I wish I could sew. I'd love to make my girls their own quilts.

I think you'll make it. I still have pajamas to make as last minute gifts and I intend on getting them done while the boys are in school next week. If I don't I'll have to sew while they are sleeping. What ever it takes right?

They sound BEAUTIFUL , and definatley a challange ...
I hope you did get them done .
I was always horrible at it I would always have to start over everytime so in the end after years of trying to get better at it I gave up and went back to school as my pass time ...

You can finish if you want to finish. Its funny how we find the time and the strength to finish up things that we want to. Good luck and post pictures if you can on how they turn out.
Have a merry christmas and a blessed new year.

I'll put some pics up as soon as I get it done. I'm about half way done with the first little girl one. It's done in purples and has her name, Skylar, and a crown and wand on it.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

You'll do great, but it is a lot more fun when one doesn't have such a tight deadline. That could be stressful. I am working on a surprise for a couple of kids now that I am trying to get ready to mail in time for Christmas, but if it doesn't happen, they have birthdays coming up. Good luck.

First of all, I admire anyone who knows how to quilt. I don't know how because I've never learned, some day I'd like to take a class.
Second, I think there are Quilt in a weekend books that are small ones from a book I saw once.
Third, I guess it depends on if you do everything by hand or if you use a sewing machine and how fast you work.
But goodness that sounds like a lot of quilts! You must be very good to have so many requests. Take care.

You're very talented, I haven't been able to teach myself anything. Sounds really cool. There is a quilting club in a nearby town. They do some awesome work.
Wow, that must have been so hard to make that quilt for your uncle. I would have cried. What wonderful work you do. Take care

WOW! If you can do this picture, you are so talented! I used to quilt but only bit more than beginner and I liked applique quilting best. But I want to do aT-shirt quilt with the tee shirts my grand daughter grows out of that have cute little sayings or designs on the front. As talented you are, do you have any suggestions on how to deal with double knit while quilting it? Good luck on the temple quit. SHould be awesome!

Actually, I only quilt on cotton and I've worked somewhat with Silk but that's it. I have his charted but I still have to iron, cut, and lay out the fabric for the temple one. Hopefully, I'll be able to start it tommorrow.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

Quilting is something I never have done. I have crocheted many items over the years. I do good to crochet gifts for myself to use let alone do it for someone else to give as a gift.
