Surprise Christmas activity.

Yesterday I had my little granddaughter. We had to run out to JoAnn's fabrics to get a few little things for Christmas. There is a grocery store next to JoAnn's and in front of the store was a beautiful horse drawn wagon that was hitched to two of the most beautiful black horses I have ever seen and they were giving free rides for Christmas. So we went on the ride and my little granddaughter sang Jingle Bells to everyone on the wagon. It was a surprise Christmas activity we took advantage of. But many other holding little hands walked right by not stopping to take advantage of the free activity. Do you take advantage of something that is a promotion or free for the kids or do you walk right by?

I would have taken my kids. I think it would have been a neat experience. I've never been on a horse drawn wagon. I don't how some parents can just walk past something like that knowing that their kids want to take a turn so bad. People just get in too big of a hurry anymore. Did ya get anything good at JoAnn's? It's dangerous when I go in there.. lol.

It was fun! Yes we got some ornaments.....wooden one that my granddaughter painted for her mom and dad and dog! They had a bone one and she was more concerned that her dog Britt got one then her mom and dad! LOL...and got some scrapping stuff for my daughter in law's stocking....they had good sales yesterday!

I'm staying out of JoAnn's until after Christmas, otherwise I won't have any Christmas money!! I know I'm getting a gift card for there from my brother, so I'll have to satisfy myself with that. :) Merry Christmas!

I take advantage of whatever freebies come my way lol! being frank here, as it during the festive season, most of us end up paying more on a host of things than we intend to. And it is also the season when there are many schemes and add-ons to popularize shopping malls and markets. So I think it would actually be sacrilege to just walk by and not take advantage of the happy times.

I felt sorry for the little guy that had his mom dragging him into the store! It was such a little thing to stop and do she wouldn't have been that far behind!

Oh that sounds like such fun I haven't seen a freeby fun thing like that where I am. But I would have done the same thing you did and take my son for a ride. It's great to show the younger generations fun things to do like that. I love to try different things and don't often pass up activities that are free. A few months ago a friend and I took our kids to a tv show that was travelling around called the today show. As they were in our area we went along and had a ball watching them do their show and we loved all the free things they passed out and the competitions too. The best part of all though was meeting so many new people.

Wow, what a nice thing to offer around this time of the year. I would stop and do something like this with or without our grandson if I had the time and it wasn't below zero. I love to do unplanned, surprise activities.

There was one mom that walked by with a boy about six.....I told her it was fun and she should take him....she hurried by us into the store. I have never ridden in a horse drawn wagon either. It even had leather seats so it wasn't rustic! LOL

Sad isn't it...that some parents are always cramming too much to do in their allotted time frame and cannot even stop to spend quality time with the wonderful babies that were brought into their lives. Children are not accessories and should be added to busy agandas that include things they would like to do rather than being tugged along and ignored. I bet that woman thought it would cut into her time if she stopped and enjoyed the ride with her boy. That is just sad. Glad you decided to take your grandchild for it...what a nice memory you will have forever.

Well I think it was a wonderful ride and if you could have seen my granddaughter when she got to see the enormous horses up close it was worth every minute of it! I think you are right....it was a chance to make a memory and she just passed it by! THanks for sharing!
