What was your best and worst shopping deal of the year?

This year our worst investment was a stupid blue truck that my spouse bought from one of our neighbors. He's the kind of guy that absolutely must have transportation at all times, even if he's not going anywhere. So, the minute our car broke down for good, he freaked out. Anyway, long story short. He was walking to our local mini mart which is a mere one block away and saw an old blue truck. It was only $700. But, by the time he went back with his money to pay the guy, the back window was broken out. But, he bought it anyway. One week later, it broke down. We paid $400 to get it fixed and $200 for new tags. Then this past month we had to pay almost $600 to get it fixed again. And, less than five minutes after he drove out of the repair shop, the truck broke down again. Now it's sitting stranded in our front yard. I'm hoping that he's learned his lesson and will only purchase from reputable dealers from now on. We had a big talk about that. He's promised to never use that repair shop again. I swear, those people are breaking our car. I'm convinced of it. Anyway, our best shopping deal of the year is our current car. It's much smaller and sportier. Cost $700 too. Just as cheap, but reliable. Drives like a dream. It was one of those police auction cars. In practically perfect condition and only needs a gas refill once a week. We're saving about $30 a week in gas, just by down grading the size of our vehicle. What a deal! We haven't had to get it fixed once. Fingers crossed, we never will. What's the worst thing you invested your money into this past year? If you had to do it all over again, what would you do differently? What was your best shopping deal? What was your worst?

I bought some things at Toys R Us and shopped early to get the best selection. I got a $10 gift card for spending $75 so I'm all proud of myself. I debated on getting my daughter one more thing so I went back to use my gift card and get that barbie guitar for her. Wouldn't you know it, the price went up $10. Bad deal for me - still bought it. I did much better finding deals on-line. I'm on one of those groups where they email you deals and I got some good ones, didn't pay shipping either.

Oh, that's terrible! I've had things like that happen to me. I always wait and miss out on the big deals. Or, I forget that I'm supposed to buy something until the sale is over, then I have to pay more. What a bummer! Better luck on future purchases. Sounds like you did pretty good on this years Christmas shopping. Merry Christmas.

juck truck - a junk truck in a field
well i can't say i bought any thing really big this year. i did buy a new car and i dont like it but it is a nice car and doesnt have any thing wrong with it. i think my best deal was almost everything i bought for christmas. i got such good deals this year. i bought for about 30 people and only spent around 600 bucks. i didnt think that was bad at all. every one got what they wanted and then some. hope things get better with your truck!

My worst shopping deal would have to be a new pair of dress shoes I got over the summer, I paid 110$ for them and the very next week they went on sale for 85$. I was able to exchange them for the sale price which make this my best deal of the year as well. They are really nice shoes well worth 200 or more and I got them for much cheaper than that.

This year i have resisted the urges to spend my money, and it was good.I wanted to buy one of those devices that compressed water and air, and shoot it with pressure, which are used for washing cars.I didnt buy it, and now i know i did well. I have had many things bought that werent needed. Most important was a portable tv of 3,5' which i thought would be fun.I paid it very expensive, many years ago, and it hasnt worked more than 4 hours.Totally not needed, since it doesnt have great antenna thus it doesnt receive channels clearly.Either way, screen was so small i couldnt make out what i was watching.
