What would you be willing to do to make money?

Does pride ever keep you from getting gainful employment? Do you ever say there are no jobs when you could always scrub toilets or wash dishes? Or are you willing to do anything you need to support yourself and/or your family?

There are many jobs I wouldn't take. I rather starve and wait and get a job I know I would like than get a job that I would hate from the start. So I Am one of the Americans who won't do those jobs the new Americans, legal and illegal, are getting.

Or a long time ago, the old new Americans, the Irish and such. :) I can respect that. What if your family depended on it - you couldn't get any other job - but one you wouldn't like and it was the only way to support your family - you would be the sole provider. I lived on a resort long ago and scrubbed toilets - cleaned the guest rooms and ran the front desk - we all split our time. But it was so worth it to live on a hot springs resorts in the middle of the mountains. I know I wouldn't like it now. I've never worked in a fast food restaraunt either - even as a teen and I would never work in a department store or large grocery - it is already like sensory overload to shop in places like that!

No if I were the sole provider, I wouldn't clean toilets . I guess I would become an escort instead. If I have to do something I would hate, I rather do that then clean toilets.I know what you mean about fast food and department stores, I don't think I could do that either. anywhere where the customer is Always right, I wouldn't last for long. Oh well there goes the idea of being an escort.I'm doomed.

I can understand and relate. I would become a phone actress - upwards of 18 dollars an hour, and legal as long as you avoid certain subjects - animals, children, relatives and poop, and if the customer is annoying or rude, you 'accidentally' lose connection.

I am willing to do anything for my family. I am not choosy when it comes to work.. however., i refuse to enter in a job where my relatives are already there., a relative who is willing to help me gain an entrance in the company. I like to earn my jobs the noble way - and that is by applying for it the proper way.

I see nothing wrong with a relative calling to recommend someone. My husband's mom did it for his brother. He was already qualified for the job, and had great experience. She just called a friend in the air force their and gave him the heads up he was applying. He had to take a test and interview just like everyone else. She was going to do that for my husband - who is also very good at his job and has beaucoup experience, but it would be a real coup to get that job because he would be paid like a few dollars more an hour. And we have a new baby and live in a dangerous city. We'd also be closer to my mom who has cancer and hasn't met her grandson. But we decided to stay here as we found a wonderful community right outside of the city but close enough to the base and the hanger that my husband works at. However I have to say that I admire your work ethic

I would like to think I would take any job to support my family. There are jobs that I would prefer not to do, but if I was broke and starving any job would do.
