How do you get referrals?

I have found that the traditional approach to getting referrals does not work very well. Everyone makes a blog talking about the great program they are working with and maybe puts up a proof of payment. Let's face it that approach does not really generate hundreds of referrals and that is what we are all looking to get. I have figured out a new way to get referrals that has me getting about 20-25 sign ups every day and I have been sharing it with my referrals with pretty good results. How do you go about getting referrals?
