This is one of the reasons I keep old cars just about forever instead of trading up. Even if we put a car into non-operation which is a small fee, then before it can go over a highway, even if loaded onto a truck and transported, the full year's fee has to be paid. Then there is the smog test. Don't even ask about the smog test. That one really gets on everybody's last nerve around here. LOL. I still remember when our last car was new having to take it to some guy to "inspect" it for the insurance company. He had to fill out a report swearing that we really had airbags and that the ID number wasn't fake and all that good stuff. It took about an hour.

I think mother earth would be well served if we had solar powered cars, especially here in the desert where the sun shines brightly almost every day. If they could tax the sunlight, they would.

I have to pay over $600 a year for registration... which includes $200 of road taxes and $400 as an insurance in case you injure someone. On top of that... you need an insurance for property damages for the damages you might cause to someone's car and your own car. This is base on the value of your car. If you drive a brand new car... it can easily cost you $1000 a year.

In the States the amount of "tax" paid for a vehicle vary depending on the value of the vehicle. I have a 3 year old car and my license plates cost roughly $125 this year. next year it will be about $100 or slightly more. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I am not 100% sure how much it is but I belive they are about $350 each (isurance and registration) We have 1 car and I have concesion card so that brings the whole price down if we dont use it is far too much for us. I am lucky that the car had registration when we got it so I only had to get insurance. So isurance is in August and registration is in April, so it gives me more time.
