Same as mine, cool. But yes, I agre on your answer even though we're the same. My basis though is in overall impact to me personally. Sure one or the other is better or least in some aspect of the whole movie, LOTR is a bit dragging but good concept, 300 so gory but good effects, troy good action scenes and I liked the music :P

With regards to LOTR, I find the three 3 movies Ok. But I was a bit depressed after watching the 2nd installment. I mean, I felt there was something emotionally bothering with the TWO TOWERS. This particular installment really left me hanging. But then, it was like justified with the last installment. 300 was ok. I like the fight scenes and the ABS (--this is a private joke among friends). But really, at first, I thought it was some typical epic-action film, but after watching it, I was awed. :P Troy -- aside from the Eric Bana, Brad Pitt and Orlando Bloom factors, basically, I was just fascinated with the story.

Yes I would have to agree with you. I didn't like the 2nd installment either. It's like it was placed there because the movie series would end with just a sequel. Now in hollywood that means a great deal of loss in potential profit. But in this case, they did that even if the viewers' expectations were a bit short and hanging. The 300 movie, I think that some of the actors are a bit musculine prior to the movie shoot. But for those that need to be buffed, a rigorous muscle toning training was done, mostly for abs I guess. That's great though for us guys, a nice abs can do alot-physical appearance anyway. Troy relied more on old fashioned Hollywood war epic formula, so not much special effects here unlike LOTR and 300. They just placed bankable and gorgeously hot actors to play the lead roles: Brad Pitt,Diane Kreuger,Orlando Bloom,Eric Bana. The veterans are there to give the movie a "respectable" stance, as the war is based on two opposing superpowers of ancient times. But the story revolves around as a love story actually. Why so? Because there's Helen and Paris, Hector and his wife,Achilles and Priam's daughter affair. It wasn't clear if Achilles was hit because of him finding and protecting Priam's daughter or otherwise. Well it worked somehow, it's like the greatest love epic" sort of.

If these were the only choices than I would have to pick Lord of The Rings. The storyline, acting, special effects all were great. Troy and 300 were excellent too. Did not care much for Alexander and Beouwolf. Infact, I would go as far as to say that Alexander was a a total waste of time.

Ok thanks for your reply. Although, I would have to ask you is it in that order of being the best to the least favorite movie: LOTR,Troy,300,Alexander,Beouwolf? I did ask at the beginning of the discussion to place them in order. So, is it in that order would you like them movies be placed?

Ok thanks for the followup reply. At least we got it clear. So it's Alexander at fifth place for you. I can relate to your disappointment in regards to Alexander, I mean the story is good, but the delivery is so slow paced that it becomes lagging at times. But imho, if it could have beemn done like 300 or Troy, then it could have been a great movie as well. This one I think, really followed most of historical events. Sad to say that if Hollywood would not intervene just like 300, the plot is a bit stale.

I couldn't pick a favorite. Each is unique. Each was awesome. The ONLY thing one can hold against LOTR(and I don't)was the time it took to see it. over yrs.But let's see to respond correctly if I must rank 1. LOTR 2.TROY 3.300 4.Beowulf 5.Alexander I must say though, most notably Alexander scene between the horse and elephant..spectacular

Yes it's really hard to pick from the list because true they are all great movies and yes unique in each aspect. I kinda thought of it that way too when I started this discussion but would probably take up a lot of aspects to consider so that's why I generalized it to overall best in everything. Thanks for your reply. Hope you don't mind me requesting to be your friend. Thanks again.

LOL! Yes I would have to agree with you aleale, that Leonidas's wife is a really hot woman. Not that there was a love scene shown in the movie. Ok so it's 300 for you. But how about the other four movies? Which is second .....fifth? You're response would be considered incomplete.

I havent watched Alexander yet. And I havent read LOTR yet. I have seen Troy, beowulf, and 300, and read the original texts from which they are based. All of those three adaptations have disappointed me. It is a sad fact that it has beeb a fad in Hollywood to make movies which have great disparities from their original text. I cant include LOTR to my ranking yet because as I have said I havent read the whole text of it yet. So with Alexander 'cause I have not wtached it yet. SO from among the three, Troy, Beowulf, and 300-my first is 300, then followed by troy. Beowulf will be the least aside from its a total flop from the original text, making it 3D is not attractive. I mean compare it with 300. Beowulf makers could've adapted the kind of effects 300 has used. It could be more interesting to watch if you see real-like persons doing the stunts. By watching Beowulf it reminds me of Shrek and the incredibles. hehe

Well that's Hollywood. Got to admire their "creativity" though of putting a not so glorious historical event into a spectacular display of blood, gore, physical prowness, great effects, etc. Although, troy and 300 are based on legends also, I think. I mean yes there maybe an Achilles, Paris, Helen or Leonidas in Greek history, but was there a trojan horse really and I believe the trojan war lasted for many years or are there really only 300 men who fought against the whole Persian army? Imho, if Hollywood will be true to the text then would they (movies) be blockbuster success? Aside from Beowulf of course. But not all, like what happened to the Da Vinci Code right, bestseller book but the movie...well. Anyway, thanks for your reply on this topic. Merry Christmas to you.

I wasn't able to see Beowolf so I can't count it in.. darn! Well here's my list then 1. LOTR 2. 300 3. Alexander 4. Troy. Personally, I didn't really like Troy nor Alexander that much. I did like Alexander for the great effects and the visuals and Troy um.. I liked the other version better because the Helen in Brad Pitt's Troy wasn't really my type and it seemed less apealing compared to the other version. Hands down the best goes to LOTR. I cannot praise that series or Tolkien or Peter Jackson and the entire cast and crew enough for giving breath and life to these books. Everything, the story line, battle scenes, acting, everything was just perfect! So definitely it'll be the best. 300 too was such a magnificent feat for having such great visuals and man, the artwork! The whole movie was like some gigantic artbook and the battle scenes were awesome!!! 300 also had some more memorable lines! Love it!

I like historic and fiction movies like these, and my absolute favourite is the LOTR trilogy, not just because of the movies but J.R.R. Tolkien is a great author, his stories are one of the best I have ever read in a book, than Alexander (I am from Macedonia and that was Alexander's birth place), Beowulf, Troy, 300.

I loved 300 and Beowulf...but i have to say that they are all great movies..

In the five, LOTR ranks best because the story and it's imagination is unique beyond what human can imagine. It is the movie who got the most ,11, oscar awards in the history of the film making...in their arrangement i suggest LOTR IN NO. 1 followed by 300 then Troy them Beowulf and lastly alexander.

i would go for 300 for 300 is an absolutely terrific movie. the attitude, the valour the spartans display send a chill down my spine. so much to keep their honour. they challenged and even demured a person who projected himself as god. i think they were bogged down by the wrong priests who just had no respect for these warriors. my personal favorite line in the movie when the king says : SPARTANS NEVER RETREAT!!!!!!!!!!. the greatest sequence when the king as a young lad fights the beast and also , when he kicks the intruder into the well..

I would put 300 above all of them. The action and fighting scenes are unbelievable. A few of the others are clearly more realistic but 300 was the best by far. LOTR would be my second, Troy third, and then I would be to worn out to watch the other two. I really didn't care for Alexander that much anyway.
