What OS do you prefer?

I prefer the Linux Kubuntu OS. It's got cool effects and desktop performance than any other OS in the market. Actually Kubuntu is a free OS developed by Linux so you can download or request it for free. How about you? What OS are you using? Is it better?

Oh, you mean you're using a pirate OS? I think you should buy the original one because using pirate OS is not good for your computer. An you can't get important updates for your computer. If you want a free OS try kubuntu from linux but you have to be familiar with it.

I like Linux. My favorite is Linux Mint (a descendant of Ubuntu), which is one of the easiest distros to use, and very nimble. My favorite things about Linux are speed and low maintenance. Unlike Windows, you don't have to defragment your hard drive in Linux, or clean a registry, or restart your computer after installing updates. Unfortunately, Linux currently has a serious problem that inhibits my ability to use it. I use a USB mouse, USB keyboard, USB printer, and two or three USB storage devices at a time. One of my storage devices is a flashdrive that runs a better half of my productivity applications. Linux can't handle a lot of strain on USB. The running applications on my flashdrive will crash, and the pointer will stop responding to the mouse. At this point, all I can do is reboot. I've reported this issue in the Mint forum, and intend to do so elsewhere as well. I hope the problem gets resolved soon; Linux could be my primary platform for personal use when it does. But until it does, Windows is the only platform that facilitates my needs. I currently use Windows XP Pro Corporate.

I haven't, but I have tried Ubuntu 7.10. It has the problem. From what I understand, Mac has USB problems as well as Linux. This would suggest to me that it may very well be in UNIX itself. Here's a known issue that sounds like mine (I think it's a bit different, but possibly related): http://www.theinquirer.net/gb/inquirer/news/2007/12/06/seagate-snubs-linux

Yup, Windows is cool but they are not free and there programs are expensive. Unlike, Linux almost all is free and has a good quality. Linux has got few viruses too though I haven't meet any viruses in Linux yet. Windows got too many viruses.

First, I like Kubuntu Linux because it's free OS and better performance than Windows XP/Vista. But, it's difficult to install additional programs (not like windows, so easy). I hope anyone can help me to solve the problem.

You can use the terminal to install the programs but its pretty complicated. Linux is a good OS for programmers just like UNIX because its got a lot of typing.

I like Windows XP it is the best by far I think, but I know of someone who uses Linux and likes that. I don't want to change from Windows XP either you get used to using one and then don't want to change. I think you have given a good explanation of Linux here and as I say I know someone who uses it and thinks it is excellent, but I would personally be too scared to try any new operating system it would take me ages to get used to it. I didn't know thet had a free download though so maybe I will give this a try. I'm just a bit doubtful though.

Well, if you're doubtful, better not to try it. But anyway, it's user friendly.

I like Windows XP and ubuntu Linux. I have tried Vista, Mandriva, and OpenSuse, but I still prefer those two. I would probably like Apple OSX Leopard, but I haven't tried it out enough to make any judgement about it.

Linux is also a good operating system but now I am using right now Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2. Sometimes I used Windows Vista, but I am like a new beginner when I used it thats why I go back to Windows XP. I will tell you the truth, Windows Vista is a good Operating System, because they have a good configuration and a lot of features rather than Windows XP. I used Windows XP because it is a friendly user.
