Like many parents, a guy in Montreal had braved the Christmas shoppers to nab the uber popular game Guitar Hero 3 for his 15 year old son. The story takes a twist when the man (who does not want to be named) came home to find his son and his friends smoking pot in the backyard. And just like any other parent, the man proceeded to his computer to list the game on ebay. An Australian man was the winning bidder at (sit down for this part)$9,100! So would you sell your child's christmas present on ebay as punishment?

So is the father going to sell something of his own on Ebay for not having talked to his son about smoking pot? I'd much rather come home to my kids smoking pot than something worse.

I would do it in a heartbeat and I hate ebay. It was not as if the son already received his present yet. When Christmas rolls around and everyone else gets theirs, it will be fitting punishment and if I get the rest of the family to cooperate, they will know why. So no presents from me, none from my husband, none from the other members of the family. Of course, I do not have to worry, because my sons are all grown and they never did anything like that.

No I would not sell the present on ebay, but I would donate it in my son's name to the local charity that gives gifts to the needy. I would also call the parents of all his friends and have them come and pick up their kids telling them what I had discovered. Those friends would be history as he would be totally grounded from the phone, internet, extra curricular activities. He would also understand that I am the parent and it is my responsibility to protect him and teach him of the rights and wrongs in the world. As far as selling the game, I don't think it is right for this man to make monetary gain from his son's mistake.

Bravo! Sorry but I may be the odd one out here, but I would say well done father! So many fathers don't care and certainly wouldn't go to the lengths of getting his son a present as some fathers would, he moved hell and water to get his son the best present with money being no object, and for his pains his son does this! Too right, a lot of parents wouldn't have taken that stance and now his son has learnt a valuable lesson as has the father, he won't be rushing out next year to do the same. The son loses out on both counts!

You're darn right I would sell my child's Christmas present on ebay if I found him smoking pot on my property!!! Especially if it was something like that, that I knew would sell! Call me cruel, but you know what? I don't care. He doesn't deserve to have it. And to the person that said they would sell the gaming system too, so would I. Because my son would be grounded for so long it would be obsolete by the time he earned it back anyway!

I don't see anything wrong with what this guy did! Getting high has major consequences and can easily get out of hand. It is a situation that should not be taken lightly.

HELL YA!!! If I came home and my child was doing something he is old enough not to do I would have sold it too. Serves him right! Maybe next time he will think about what he does before doing it again. WOW 9 thousand dollars... Thats insane! I think I would have fell out of my chair if the winning bid was 9 thousand dollars!!! LOL.

I've done worse for lesser reasons! When my daughter was a teenager I bought her a coveted Led Zeppelin album for Christmas. Wrapped up and under the tree. Now this is going back a lot of years so I forget exactly what she did but I know it was nothing like smoking pot...but I do remember she made me very mad. I went to the tree and picked up the album...unwrapped it in front of her and proceeded to smash it to pieces! She stood there in tears...that I DO remember. I was newly divorced, had 3 kids and was on welfare and that album all but broke me but I tell you...I was mad at her. I swear from that day on she never gave me another problem in her life....true story and one we talk about every Christmas! I wish ebay was around back then I would probably have gone there instead of smashing it and losing all that money! By the way....I wonder if that man will really get $9,100 for thta game!

I say it would depend on the situation. In this case I would say that yes, the man was in the right. Even if it was just the fact that he made a killing on Ebay.

I would sell it in a second. I'm sure his intention wasn't to make a bunch of money but it doesn't hurt that it did. I just purchased Guitar Hero 3 for my dad yesterday, maybe I should put it on ebay! haha
