or was it a conspiracy because President Kennedy said that they had to beat the Russians? I was right into the moon landing as I was about 11 years old at the time. I saw a show about five years ago regarding the conspiracy theories and it shocked me because it made so much more sense that they didnt go and it was all a hoax. What are your thoughts?

I don't believe it. You're really going to tell me in the 60's technology was that advanced? I don't buy it at all. My main question is why haven't they been back since? Because they didn't go the first time that's why.

Thats a perfect summary of all the questions, why not go back? I read that the computer capablities of apollo 11 had the abilities of an atari game console. lol. Imagine what they could do now!

I was born in '74 so I don't remember it, but I remember learning about it. I think it happened like they say, but I'm sure the government has plenty of conspiracies they aren't sharing with us. Tell me- where did you read about this? I'm interested in conspiracy theories, as well. The moon conspiracy sounds like a good one.

Of course the Apollo landings happened, the proof is overwhelming. Consider: Millions of people saw the Saturn Vs being launched. Staging was observed (and filmed) and the spacecraft were tracked by radio telescope to the moon and back. Many countries were involved in tracking the spacecraft, including the UK and Australia, and the Soviets also tracked them independently. In the book "Two Sides of the Moon", Alexei Leonov describes listening to the radio chatter from the Apollo 11 EVA, and he didn't have any doubt that it was real. Good quality photographs, plus hours and hours of video and film footage of the EVAs were taken. The film and video footage is especially convincing. Get a video and observe what happens to the lunar regalith that's kicked up by the astonauts and LRVs - it doesn't billow like dust on Earth would, each particle describes a ballistic arc. That can only happen in a vacuum. Dozens of pounds of rock and soil samples were brought back to Earth. These rock and soil samples were unique to the Moon, their chemical makeup and other properties don't match anything you'd find on Earth. Samples were released to the scientific community all over the Earth, and continue to be examined to this day. Have you ever heard a geologist say that any of these samples were fake? No conspiracy theorist to my knowledge has ever given an even remotely convincing explanation as to where these mineral samples came from. Finally - as I think another poster has already pointed out - laser reflectors were left on the Moon and are still used to make very accurate measurements of the distance between the Earth and the Moon. The Apollo missions happened - that's a really great thing, and shows what people are capable of doing when they're motivated.
