Are there still Playable Demos for PC games?

I have been out of the PC Game loop for a while, I am looking to get back into it, BUT I want to be wise with my money and Try out some PC games before I go drop $40 on a game that I might not like. For instance I wanted to try out Overlord, I went to the game's website and d/l a demo, after i installed it, it didnt work. I repeated this process a few times with the same result. I have also looked for a playable demo for Assasin's Creed, I have been unsuccessful in finding one. The Witcher and the Kane and Lych game are others i would like to try. If anyone knows where I can get playable demos please let me know. Thank you

Demos are always playable.No company would risk getting out a non-playable demo of a game, because people would think the game would be a disaster!Your problem is that your computer probably cant handle the game, so it cant handle its demo either.Check for minimum requirements, and make sure your PC configuration exceeds them.

Well you can try www.torrentspy.com, and i'm pretty sure you could find either a demo or possible the full game.. but if you are in the states, it hink taht's against your piracy laws, Here and canada we can use those sites legally.. well somewhat legally. lol.

On legal ways i dont know realy much sites :P Better to sad that i dont know any site...
For illegal you can try torrent, phazeddl ( he will give you link on rapidshare )
