How Stupid Was This?

Okay as I was reading repsonse to my wax removal problem my daughter responded reminding me of another time I had problems with melted wax. When my kids were young I hated all the odd pieces of small crayons left lying around. I would gather them all up placing various pieces & colors into the tins of a cupcake pan. I would then melt them in a warm oven 200 degrees. Thus I would make crayons for them in odd shapes and multi colorored to boot. They loved these crayons. Well one day as I was in my shorts with no shirt as I was making these same crayons. Pulling the cupcake pan from the over the pot holder I was using had a hole in it. Well my hand was right over the hole. Thus the heat caused a pain in my hand forcing me to immediately drop the pan. Which in turn spilled all the hot wax all over my hairy body. My chest and also down my shorts. Let me tell you it's not fun ripping wax from your hairy body. HAHAHA! So would you like to share an embarassing moment with us all here? Please? I would like to feel I am not the only one that does stupid things. Well it wasn't stupid really. Normal reaction to release the thing thats causing you pain. Anyhow do share. Thanks Minnie. Hee hee!

Ouch Grandpa Bob that would have hurt really bad
What did you do to get it of? Did you have to shave it? I got a bit of Wax once in my Hair on my Head and I just brushed and brushed then I poured hot water over it and got the rest out
as I have long Hair the boiling water was ok to pour over lol as the wax got to the longest part of my hair

Rip. Pull. Yank. That's how it got removed. I was screaming like a mad banshee. HAHAHAHAHA! Never want to do that again. As a matter of fact I don't think I've ever tried making those again since that incident. Hahahaha!! Pouring hot water on my chest and down my shorts sounds worse than the wax. HAHAHAHA!!

Wait a minute here. How the hell did you get wax in your head hair? Funny now as I think of it. Held a candle over your head to watch it drip from below or what? HAHAHAHA! Couldn't resist this one. Joking.

Oh that sounded like a painful way of waxing your chest lol!!! I have a husband who loves playing pranks... especialy on me. Well one day he was leaving for work and called me to the car window to tell me something, well I put my face just inside the open window and he decides to shut the electric car window. Now keeping in mind that car windows are supposed to stop when something gets in the way is just a myth!!! He closed the window on my nose!!! He had great fun telling everyone that he caught my nose in the window....I went around for about a week with a red stripe on and under my nose!! :-)

Oh the neighbors heard my screams. HAHAHA!! My wife had a friend back in her shool years that got her nose run over by a bicycle. HAHAHA! Yup by a bike. Now that was dumb. Plus the same girl had a basketball that was her best friend. OMG! Too funny. So my question is...why did you stand there with your face still there as the window started to move? HAHAHAHA! Another great tale of humorous moments. Thanks for sharing.

I seen this girls nose and it was mishaped due to this act. She was lying down and the girl zipped over it before she could react. More than her nose got run over but that's our astory, the girl whose nose was run over by a bicycle. HAHAHA!!

OH grandpa BOB, I'm sorry. I know it must have hurt and that I should not laugh, but .. I can't, I"m just trying to imagine the scene and I can't help it, I'm laughing.
I don't think I have any story like that, but I used to play with the wax from crayons as well. I used to scrape all the small pieces into wax paper, put another piece of wax paper on top and then use the iron to melt it up. It would make pretty shapes and colours and we would frame and put it on the window. One day the phone was ringing while I was doing it and I picked up the phone and started talking. Only stopped when it smelled like something was burning.
I had forgotten all about the iron and what I was doing and the darn thing was really burning LOL Thankfully my sense of smell is very good and I got it before there was a lot of damage.

Oh please do laugh. That's why I posted this for some laughs at my stupidness and or not thinking. I laughed after I was done crying and screaming like a girl. HAHAHAHA! HAHAHAHA. I've left an iron on clothes before leaving a pretty brown and yellow traingle design. They turned out being great rags for the garage as well. Hee hee! Thanks for sharing.

LOL Didn't enjoy your wax job, eh, Grandpa Bob? And here I bought my daughter a Crayon Maker a few years ago that was a piece of crap I sold in a garage sale the following summer. Now I know how to make 'new' crayons out of my daughter's broken ones. I have no embarassing moments to share. Least none that comes to mind. I rarely get embarrassed over something cause I turn it into a joke that I meant to do. lol

Yeah it was one hell of a wax job. I'll never go there again for hair removal. HAHAHA! As long as you use non-stick cupcake pans it works great. The oven shouldn't be reall hot. Maybe 100 to 200 degrees is all and for a few minutes is all. Once they cool they fall right out easily. The kids loved the shapes and especially the way some had a different color on a few differsent sides too. Don't have one to share you say? You've never opened someone elses mail package by mistake? Hmm?

My oven doesn't register that low but I have my toaster oven that will work just fine. I'm betting cookie cutters will add to the vsst array of shapes that can be made as well. Nope, never opened someone else's mail pkg. either. :-P

Thanks for sharing! At the moment I can't think of one. That is a great idea with the crayons~ When they use to have the clear medicine bottles, I would put crayon shavings in them and melt it. Then make a necklace out of it. I will have to remember this about broken crayons for the next time I ever have any around. Though since my daughters are now grown it will have to wait until my granddaughter is old enough to have some.

LOL I bet that was quite painful.
One year we collected crayons from all the classes at our school. We got MILLIONS of crayons pieces! We melted thm down as you did but used an old tin can and only put one color per can. We then poured the wax in candy molds and made new s hpes. Some were hearts, animals, leaves, or characters like winnie the pooh. When we got several done we donated them to the local headstarts. They LOVED them! We spent over 100 hours on this and loved doing it.
I don't recall getting burnt with the wax, but we as well as our house smelled like warm crayons for months!!!
When my kids were little my daughter had a box of cryons in the car. She left them in the back window one day. It was not hot outside, but the added heat from the sun on the window melted them. We could not get all the wax out of the back window. We had to be careful what we put up there, or it would have wax on it!

Gee webeishere! You know the wax that they use for stripping the hair off your body is not exactly the same wax you use for crayons! LOL
I'm sure that hurt. Be careful next time.
