Problems with your drop shipper running out of items in the middle of an auction

Have you had this problem? If so, what did you do? I use one drop shipper for electronics and up until Christmas Time had no problems with them. Then on 2 items that were popular they ran out while I had auctions with bids on them. There was no notification that they were low on stock or anything.
