Hello everyone! I'm looking to get some tips/ideas/advice from my fellow myLotians on how to survive New Year's Eve alone. I'm unable to drive (due to health reasons) and I'm afraid that if I'm home alone I might try to OD on some kind of medication, or do something else. I just don't feel safe staying home alone for this holiday. My hubby has to work. I don't feel the need to have to stay up 'til midnight - I just want to be around others so that I don't do something stupid. Please share any ideas that you have with me - keeping in mind that I just can't drive anywhere I want to. Thank you all in advance!!!

Listen to your favorite music all night, have some drinks ;o), watch a real good movie, Invite your friends or family to your place.. I think there must be many other ways as well!! Why don't you write to us what all you have in your mind?..

Well, as I mentioned above, I'm not into drinking and stuff, and so far the few friends that I have aren't available for New Year's Eve. People plan for this holiday way in advance. I never really plan anything, except to be with my hubby. Since he'll be working, I won't even have that this year. I'm just afraid to be alone this year, as I'm afraid of what I might do.

I've found something to do for New Year's Eve/New Year's Day!!! There is a 24 hr. Alkathon for AA and Alanon and anyone that needs somewhere to hang out for that period of time!!! I called them to get the details, and they're going to arrange transportation for me to geth there, and when hubby gets out of work, he'll pick me up there, and we'll go home!!! I'm so happy that I don't have to worry about this anymore. I was really beginning to get to the point where I was considering admitting myself to the behavioral health section of the hospital, just to stay safe - but now I don't have to!!!! Yippie!!!!!

I don't leave the house as it is safer to stay in and less expensive and since I don't drink there is no place to go anyway. I don't even think of it as a holiday. at best I might try to stay up to watch the ball drop, but it is only to see Times Square . But to me it is just another day. Can be to you too.
