Hi there everyone c",) Merry Christmas!!!Recently we joined in a dance competition at our company party... After a month of practice and gave our best in dancing. We won the second place...Most people who watched were wondering about the results because they thought that our team was the winner. We followed the criteria and gave our all but still we didn't make it. We all think that it was not a fair judging. The judges were 3 of the big bosses in our company and most of our officemates say that the team who won were close to their hearts.lol.. oH well the judges' decision was final and there was nothing else to do but to accept it. Do you think the judges decision was fair? have you been in a competition with unfair judging?

Do not be too hasty to judge the judges. Your bosses are probably not dancers. They probably have different taste than you. Besides, your judges are also humans and are subjects to emotions and unintentional biases. Life is not fair, the best does not always win. Merry Christmas!!!

Well, judging is still very subjective. We cannot really guarantee what will tickle the tastes of the judges.

Yeah many times I join twice in a tv dance contest and we think that we are not been judge fair by the judges. somehow we really expect that and nothing is so surprised about that because the one who won the contest is a friend of the tv dance troup so we just ignore it and enjoy the consolation prizes.

well, even with audience voting sometimes contests are accused of unfairness. Not sure whether you watched the recent asian idol in Indonesia? It was audience participation with 6 nations voting via sms and that decided the competition winner. but because of the rules, they had to vote for two and most people said that the 'second vote' went to the horrible singer because they didnt' want him to be a threat. and in the end he won.

There is almost always unfair judging in any contest... Well, there are people who let people win or have more higher scores because they know them and they like them... Just remember there 's nothing fair in this world, so just do your best more. At least, put in your hearts that you are the winner :)

I know that kind of suck. Anyways, sometimes really JUDGES used their judging skills including biases. Anyways, I guess, that’s part of joining a contest not everyone is objective in judging. Despite the fact that your team gave it all, there really are times when these things would never be recognized nor acknowledged pretty well by the judges. I hope despite of that you feel basically better now.

hi mycharm! ^__^ i have been into a lot of dance competitions and i don't really remember exactly when i had encountered the same unfair judging but i'm sure i did once or twice. i just don't really take it too deeply. just as long as i have given my best, whatever the results will be, it is up to Batman. LOL just kidding. as long as we have given our best, its up to the judges' conscience to make the judgment. we also joined in our office's Christmas party presentation contest. we won first place. ^__^ one of my officemates said some people were saying that the second placer should have won but one of the judges explained to me that in terms of the choreography and other technicalities, we were equal. our edge was with our costumes. ^__^ i would have been very disappointed if we didn't win actually. we stayed up as late as 1am to do those wigs. ^__^;;

What to do? In any competition, there is bound to be some probability of unfairness. More so especially with inhouse competition. Favourism always come into play. That's life. As long as the winners are happy, the judges are happy.
