Free Lobster!

I quickly went into the supermarket last night to purchase a loaf of bread, some deli meat, lettuce and mustard. We were going to have dinner in the car while finishing up our Christmas shopping! Beats fast food places! As I approached the seafood section, a message on the intercom revealed that the first person to come sing a Christmas carol on the intercom would walk away with a free Lobster complete dinner. Well the store was pretty dead, I was the only one around in this section! As I made eye contact with the gentleman making the announcement, I turned beat red. I'm sure he thought I was going to jump to the opportunity but all I could think of was Darn It We're alergic to Lobster!!! LOL
I didn't do it however once I returned to the car and told my husband about it, I regretted not going for it. I could have given the Lobster to another family or requesting chicken instead or something!!
I doubt I'll ever have this opportunity again but next time, I'm going for it!
Would you have sang over the intercom for all to hear?

haha now that i think about it i dont know alot of christmas carols and the ones i do know i only know the beginnings..lol. ive never had lobster so that wouldve been pretty neat to get a free one to try it. Do they give it to you alive when you buy it? and is the rumors true thatyou gotta cook them alive and they squel when you put em in the pot?

I have only cooked lobster by putting it live into cool water and letting it come to a boil. I've never heard of throwing them into boiling water right off.
that is uncanny isn't it, that both you and dh are alergic to the same things? or did you meet at the allergist's office or something?

Well cynical beat me to it but yes you purchase them alive however from what I could understand, I believe the free lobster was already cooked. Just the way they said a Free Lobster Dinner made it sound ready to eat but I could be mistaken. Both hubby and I are alergic to all seafood and nuts so there's no way we could have eaten it.

Typically when you buy a lobster it is alive unless you buy an already frozen cooked lobster tail. The rumors however about them screaming in agony when you stick their butts in the bowling water are not true. The "screaming" you hear is nothing more than vented steam from the layer of seawater that gets trapped between it's flesh and it's carapace. But they do fight just the same as you and I would if we were dunked into a pot of boiling water.

lol..I doubt if I would have grabbed the opportunity (even if it was something I could use). It would have been another matter if my son was there....I could have got him to sing (he sings well and he even made up a christmas song last week). And he's not shy to sing in front of strangers.
I'm not sure my husband wouldn't have given it a shot (to get something free...lol)

I wish I had done it just to say I did, not to receive something free. At the time, all I could think of is I can't because I'm alergic... duh!
You mentioned your son made up a christmas song last week. My father and I used to do that every year, come up with a new song. I sure miss those times. I've started doing it with my own children but they don't seem as excited and enthousiatic as I was. Keep encouraging your son! It shows great talent!

That is very impressive. You should consider having a copyright done to protect your son!

To be honest, I don't think anyone took advantage of the opportunity. Another reason why I kick myself for not doing it. I did not hear anyone participate although I was only in the store for about 10 minutes.

I'd have only been able to do it under at least a little "influence". Other than that I'm not singing for anyone. Well...maybe for a lobster...but still not too keen on the thought.

Yeah but once you did it, you would be proud of yourself! A little embarrassed maybe but proud! :)

I also though it was brilliant. Really bring out the Christmas cheer, well it did in me anyways!

Sure. I would have done my pathetic Elvis impression and sang Blue Christmas I'm sure on top of the lobster people would have come by and offered me money to stop. :)

Heehee cute! I would have sand Winter Wonderland... I love that song! Then my kids told me I'd have to do Jingle Bells too. I know if I had my kids in the store with me, they would not have taken a no for an answer. They would have been on that intercom before I could even start to think about our alergies! LOL
