Gift Cards?

I was watching the news and they were talking about people who give gift cards for a present at Christmas or for birthdays. It seems that people do not use them even though it is just like money. They said that most people put them in their wallet or purse and forget to use them. They said Wal-Mart sold over a millions dollars of these cards that never got cashed in last year and has sold even more this year. Have you ever done that? Do you give gift cards to those you don't know what to purchase for them? Or do you think they are too impersonal?

I dont know anyone who wouldnt LOVE a gift card! I mean, if you have the gift card then you can buy whatever you want instead of getting a gift you may never ever use! I LOVE the gift card. I got a few for xmas this year and i'm just waiting for the boxing day sales to go SHOPPING! lol.
People must be some kinda rich to forget they have gift cards in their wallets. lol. mine are just BURNING HOLES in my pockets i wanna spend spend spend!

Gift cards are often something that people feel bad giving because they say no thought goes into it. I disagree
to the fullest. Here's why. #1 I believe that even if you've thought about me today the thought was there, it was me you were thinking about and that's important to me. #2 I love to shop for things I can't afford and I'd rather shop for my own clothes and a gift card covers all this!!! I can and will honestly say I have never received a gift card that I have not cashed, and I have always appreciated them.

If I purchase a Gift card for a specific person I'm make sure it is very specific. Like my other half likes books so I would possibly get him a gift card to Borders because I'm not sure what books he has and hasn't read or needs for his series and yes he will use it. But a generic walmart or sheetz card I would never do that, those are the ones that I think are impersonal and show that you really don't know the person. And yes I have purchased gift cards for people before.

well, personally thats all I ever get for christmas. I'm seventeen and I really don't want anything for christmas so I when I'm asked I just say get me a gift card to the mall. lol
I've done this for pretty much all my teen years, and I always end up using my gift cards when I'm shopping for something. =)
