GOD OF WAR Playstation 2 video game ~~~Hydra level 1 Glich in game?

My husbad has the God of war video game the first and the second one. recently our nephew came over adn wanted his help with the first level of the first game. Turns out that every time he played and got to the hydra after a few minutes of playing time the hydra would just disappear and then it would not let him advance.. he was stuck at that scene in the game .. they have restarted it numerous times ad have even attempted differnt killing strgeiyes nothing worked... My husband was wondering if any one has heard of a glich in the game and were having the same problems? thanks in advance
