Young children, Do you ever let your child show their creative side?

when my six year old was old enough to set up i used to put him in his high chair and give him pudding so he can paint and express himself. Does anyone else ever do that? I know its messy but i didnt care as long as he had the chance to express himself. As he got a little older of course we went to finger paints, then paints and now he loves coloring and painting and drawing he actually took some glitter glue and puff paints and made a bird which looked like a hummingbird it is a beautiful picture you could definately tell what it was. Hes six and has great sense of art. Does anyone else allow their children to do this? Or am I just an OddBall..lol lol?
