Driving traffic to your blog

I have recently gotten into promoting my blog all over the place. Specifically I am trying to build my PR and trying to increase my alexa page rank. I have joined many different blog sites and hope that I get back links and exposure through them.
Does anyone else have tips? You will see all the buttons on my blog to sites like technorati, blogskinny, blogdump and a bunch more.
Let me know what your tricks are.

I think you can hardly get enough traffic via your work. I has done the works before and I found the traffic is few.
Link exchange and join the community are not good at traffic, I bought some traffic before, it is really drive a lot of traffic to my blog, but it have to spent a lot of money.
So, I think there is no tips for the traffic :(

thanks for your response. I think that joining communities can drive traffic, but that's about the only real way I've discovered so far. we'll keep looking together.
