Why did I do that?!

I have 2 children. Their ages are 6yrs. and 7yrs. For Christmas, I got one a toy guitar, and one a toy drum set of sorts. Both take batteries and both have buttons for playing different tunes. You can also play your own tune on each. They are both very noisey toys. WHAT WAS I THINKING?!?!?!?!.........I'm going crazy! LOL!

Haha! We got the two boys each a toy electric guitar and the baby got a toy piano and drum so I totally know how you're feeling! You'd think we'd know better.

your kids are so cute, but don't worry, like other say, maybe you are musician mother, play is children's nature and let it alone, you might get a gift from your attitude

Good question...What were you thinking? Two things you can do to restore your sanity. Use ear plugs to protect yourself from the mind-numbing racket. once they realize that the noise isn't bothering you, they look for something else to do. If that doesn't work, tell them that there are no more batteries in the world. Good Luck!

yeah well every toy that my 18 month old got for Christmas includes about a million pieces. So now she has all these toys with all these pieces all throughout the house. It is driving me crazy trying to keep them all together!!

Awe!! What ever happened to that saying "music to my ears"? LoL!! I completely understand, but what I CANNOT stand are those people that purposely buy your kids those loud and annoying toys JUST to irritate the crap out of you. It's so mean!! But ya, one year when me and my sis were in pre-teen stage my mom and dad bought me a microphone that I could not only sing in but punch in a tune as well, and they got my sis this awesome keyboard. Needless to say we were quite the musical group...LoL...but I never really found out how our parents felt about it!! I'm sure we drove them pretty nuts too!!!

Lol, but are THEY having fun ? i got my daughter a few noisy toys too, but she is only 17 months, so she gets bored with one noisey toy fairly quickly and moves on to the next, so it isn't quite so annoying. I dont hear the same tthing OVER AND OVEr :) You will have learned your lesson for next year now though huh ? lol make them play in the basement where you can't hear them! *giggles*

lol...I would say it's temporary insanity (having 2 kids the age of your kids). I have a 7 year old myself and do the same kind of things and then I'm like 'What was I thinking?' If I didn't have the toddler around, I'm sure I would have enjoyed all the noise with the 7 year old...but now it's always 'Keep it down!' and the poor guy is really worried his mother's changed!

We were also quite idiots when we got our sons 'Hungry Hippo" for their birthday when they were about three years old. I told my husband we are not going to get that for our granddaughter when she was that age. I guess we do not realize how much noise kids can make. Yes you did not realize what you were thinking.

Ha,ha,ha,ha... Please excuse my glee! Look at it this way, maybe you will have a couple of budding musicians! My kids always seemed to get noisy toys from well meaning relatives. Then when my kids had their kids, I passed on the favor and bought noisy gifts so they would think about what they used to get. I called it payback for making me nuts while they played with the noisy toys! Don't worry, the newness will soon wear off, or maybe the batteries will run down.

LOL .. big.. HUGE mistake hehehehe I think I did that one once when my kids were small but I learned fast and didn't repeat it again LOL Meanwhile your best bet is to keep putting in older batteries instead of new ones, sometimes it starts playing lower when the batteries are not new heheheh and be quick replacing those with something else less noisy so they will forget all about their rock band :) Actually when I bought my kids those toys I think that after a while I was able to kind of "not hear" the noise anymore, it was kind of filtered as background noise. Good luck my friend, you're gonna need it LOLLLLLLLL

ROFL!! I guess they didn't sound so loud in the shops when you tried them out. I think that those metal detector things they have to prevent theft have brainwashing particles that 'infect' everyone into buying inappropriate things. I mean, how many times have you bought something from the supermarket to get it home and wonder why on earth you bought it? Add this to all those subliminal messages beamed through your TV with all those happy children and their noisy toys and we are all helpless!! I am sooooo guilty of this. I bought my 3 yr old an alien bashing game for Christmas - requires batteries, is very noisy and he yells and bashes seven bells out of it. Instant migraine LOL.
