How long will you leave your Christmas tree up?

People have different traditions about their Christmas trees. I, personally, can't wait to take mine down each year. I see it as clutter, which I can't stand. I know, I'm a scrooge. Yesterday the tree came down right after the kids opened gifts and were playing with their toys. They didn't seem to mind a bit, and I got to start feeling normal again. How about you?

our tree - This was our tree this year.
I took mine down the morning of the 27th. I feel the same way about it as you do. It's a cluttery mess, and the faster i put it away, the less time i have to look at it! lol. i'm sure that the kids dont like that i took it down already, but oh well! When they are parents they can do what ever they want to do with their own tree! lol.

LOL Sissy. I completely agree that the kids can do whatever they want when they are parents. To be honest I didn't even want to put up a tree this year. My husband wouldn't quite let me get away with that one, though. I don't think my kids even noticed me taking down the tree on Christmas Day, though. How old are your kids?

I will leave my Christmas decorations up until New Years eve hits. That is the time, according to my family, when things need to start coming down, and for the "children" to get back in the swing of things, namely school. Have to love the parents.

Isn't it funny how many of our traditions focus around the kids' school schedule? I have noticed that since my daughter started Kindergarten last year.

I took mine down the Thursday after New Years. That is late for me, but I was trying to keep it up until Jan. 6th (for the epiphany) . But it was losing needles and Thursday was just in time for the trash dept. to take it for recycling. I miss my tree though, it was really pretty!!!!

Getting the tree out in time for trash pick up is always good. I use an artificial tree, so I never have to worry about that. I'm glad your tree was pretty this year!

I wish we could pull ours down immediately or just not put one up in the first place! Ours needed to stay up because we were having post-holiday get togethers with various relatives who couldn't be here on the holiday. Now it's still up because we haven't had the chance to pull it down. Hopefully tomorrow we'll get it boxed up and put away.

What is it that makes you not want to put a tree up?

That's great, Angela. Do you use a real tree or an artificial one?

Our tree goes up the day after Thanksgiving. We don't take it down until around the 6th of January. I love having the tree up, and feel sad when we have to take it down and store it back in the basement for the rest of the year.

I don’t celebrate Christmas so I don’t decorate my house with Christmas tree. I share the joy of the grand festival with my friends in their well decorated houses. They usually leave their Christmas tree one week after the new year. Only one of them keeps the tree there by the end of January. It is not worth to display the Christmas tree just for a short period as she had spend lots of time and effort to set up the tree with attractive decoration.

It does take a lot of time and effort to put up an attractive Christmas tree. I do understand not wanting to take it down quickly. I swear, next year I'm not having a tree! My family won't let me get away with that, though.

I take mine down on January 6th. In Europe that is the twelvth day of Christs or the holiday of the Three Kings (Magi).

I have to admit that I'm bothered by people who keep their Christmas trees up for weeks after it's over. We just took ours down on Sat. In a way though it kind of bums me out because I really like that cozy glow of the tree lights on a cold winter night.

I don't mind if the Christmas stuff is left up after Christmas, as long as it is NOT in my house! LOL My husband almost threw the radio out the window this morning when he heard a Christmas song being played, though!

We moved recently so I haven't finished unpacking so I never put up a tree this year. It's all still packed away. But normally I leave my decorations up till today, January 2. I am glad I don't have any to take down because I have enough other house work to do, since I had company for the last 10 days. As much as I love the Christmas season I am glad it's over. Maybe now things can get back to normal.

I hear you on wanting life to get back to normal. I've got a couple more weeks to go on that front. We are moving soon, and the house closes January 9. My house looks like a construction site right now! I'm sure you know what that's like since you just moved yourself.

I know it's a little late but my tree goes up on Christmas Eve and down on New Years Day. It's been a tradition since I was a little girl and my kids don't mind. This year we got it up just in time since we just moved to Arizona from Virginia around the holidays.

Wow, that's a short time to keep the tree up. I love it! Do you know where the tradition of putting up the tree on Christmas Eve came from?
